i inquired about some speakers a guy has for sale..they are rti1000i and he sent me pictures. then he told me one of the subs on one blew a fuse or something of that nature. i did some research on the speaker than i stopped and decided just to ask youall what you thought. i looked on polk site n saw specs. wasnt overly thrilled about the looks to be honest with you. are these a good sounding speakers and worth me fixing. im not sure of condition. as pictures dont show the real deal....then he said the price and i may just pass. he said 250.00 which i thought about after talking to him was kinda too high. i figured id see what it may possibly be to fix. offer him less. or just pass. i do know if the condition isnt good. it wont happen as these will be for our daughter. any feedback is thankful. thanx

Well, you kinda answered your own questions. You don't like the looks of them, one needs repair which parts will be hard to come by, and the price is too high. Is there something else you need to know before saying to yourself, "Pass" ?

Imho- they aren't worth the asking price and since one has a bad amp in it, I don't think Polk has parts for these either.

They sell for around $200 in great shape. There is a thread here on the most likely parts that need to be replaced to fix a bad sub amp. If you wanted to play around and try to fix the amp on your own, they are probably worth $50 - $100 (depending on the condition). I personally would pass. I have a pair in similar shape and will probably just give them away when I am ready to replace. (Right now they sound good enough to keep, and I don't care if my 4 year old accidentally damages them.)

I agree, look elsewhere. $250 is too high for those speakers, especially if they need repaired. After all is said and done, you could spend a total of $400 - $500 and for that coin, you could get something a lot nicer that actually works.
