Why are some 2-way speakers assymetrical?

The title says it all - "Why are some 2-way speakers assymetrical?"
It seems like it would be detrimental to imaging if you offset the tweeter to one side of the woofer, so why are some 2-way speakers designed this way, I've seen models from several companies setup this way, EPI, ADS, etc...

Honestly I think it is just to ease Manufacturing of them.
I prefer either mirror image or inline myself. Just seems weird to look at speakers sans grilles that look like this. -
