"Many men go fishing all of their lives . . . without knowing that it is not fish they are after." ~Henry David Thoreau
So a year ago I was semi-retired and thinking of selling my business.
Then the realization of my diminished investments, 3 still in college, a high school senior about to enter Ohio University and an addition on our home to accomodate my father-in-law moving in with us after walking away from his 640K California home that was appraised at $200K hit me.
Things were slow enough that I actually committed 24+ hours per week to a new tele-commuting position with a company I became involved with through my second hobby; personal defense and sport shooting.
Almost to the day of starting the new job, my son's varsity baseball season started, the grass on my 8 mowed-as-lawn acres started growing, business on one of my e-commerce sites exploded, and 4 thought-to-be-dead clients sprung 5-figure projects on me.
I'm winding down my seventh 100 hour week (PLUS 12 hours of baseball and 4 hours of mowing), sipping on a 37 year old Scotch and trying to reconnect with my Polk roots.
My blood pressure has been high and my hours of listening to music have been low; I think a direct correlation.
Sooo . . . as I settle back toward a 50 hour work-week, I'm going to try to listen to more music, shoot more ammo, and visit CP more frequently (at least until the contractors start tearing down walls) !
