    H9 for the score!

+1, cable risers or the like. Designed to keep your cables off the floor. The benefits? Well, let's not start that, because that debate would be very much like an all star cable fest. And we don't need anymore of those!

And to think ... This is part of the 22 miles of external wiring in the Space Shuttle. And if you look closely, some of it actually is laying "on the floor/deck"!

Can you imagine if the engineers had at least used "Wire Elevators" to keep some of these wire bundles suspended, how much better the Space Shuttle would have performed!

What kind of music does one use to do the Space Shuttle, is it kind of like the Texas Two Step?

That wiring was probably good enough for the Bose Sound System. I bet the cost for the system was astronomical.

Says Robert F. Levi of pf audio DISCOURSE:

"The Dark Field Cable Elevators cost $350 and come in a set of 12 which will do the job in most setups. They are very stable and hold all kinds of cables and power cords without any slippage or wobbling. I elevated my entire system of cables with one box of lifters. They replaced my home brew modified plastic cup setup that was effective, but required tape to hold the cables in place. The Dark Field elevators are set and forget...

"...Their effect in a system is not subtle …improvements will be heard across the board. If you don't use cable elevators, you will be truly shocked at the improvement in quiet and definition with the Dark Field. If you do use elevators, chances are these will still make some improvement. I've got a ton of home brew cable elevators for sale cheap. Well done Shunyata! The Dark Field Cable Elevators are highly recommended."

Well...........I think these are JUST what I've been looking for for my 2-ch system (vintage Onkyo TX-2000 receiver and a pair of Polk S4s) in my laundry/puttering room!

Marketeers can get pretty over the top when describing effects of their gadgets for the audio crowd. While cable elevators serve a purpose, it's effects can be zilch to slight in my experiences anyway. The idea is to keep your cables from gathering static by laying on the floor/carpet. Even a well shielded cable on a wool carpet will collect static, which can add noise. Now whether or not thats audible is going to be like a cable debate.

350 bucks ?? Oh hell no. You can make some yourself out of blocks of wood or buy the cheaper ceramic ones. I've even seen some who just use a paper cup upside down with a slit on the top for the cable. Looks ghetto but still serves the purpose. Part of these elevators are for looks to show off your 2000 buck cables, and another part to reduce the effects of static. Money that could be spent elsewhere in your system for better returns imho.

We have extreme static electricity problems where I live, so I use porcelain cable elevators to lift my speaker cables off the carpet. Do they improve the sound? I don't know...but they sure make me feel cool.

And to think, those high dollar cables need risers. To shield them from static electricity? For the price of some I would think that would be a non issue.

I showed these to Dr. Habib ("Huh-beeb") at work today - I think most CP members would consider him an audiophool considering some of the gear he has - and even he said, "OMG! Give break to me!"

Some time ago, I linked an industrial place where you could buy the porcelain isolators from cheap (like $5 bucks each). You'll have to search for it. If you look at my showcase, you'll see them. Audio stores were charging around $25/ea for these very same isolators.

    Try: http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?100408-Speaker-cable-elevators-arrived...pics&highlight=cable+elevators

When I built my acoustic treatment stands I incorporated cable risers in them. Multiple slots to keep power, Cat5 and speaker cables separate and off the floor. Like Pparacchin with the Ohm's, I have hardwood floors and risers make it easier to clean under the cable when we run the Swifter Sweeper around. A fellow at a high end audio store once told me ignorant folks are less likely to step on an elevated cable versus one lying on the floor. YMMV

EDIT: Steve, if folks are dishonest, observant, and go to neighborhoods where the local Con Ed is installing new power poles, they can snag them for free after the pole is delivered (before it is put up of course).:cheesygrin:

Oh, and I don't stutter and wonder why I see multiple 'power' words in the first sentence when I only typed one....althought there are more than one in my system.

This is the best I can do for now (at work). From my showcase. I may have some close ups at home. There are notches at the front and back of stands for two pairs of speaker cables to each speaker (ESL panel and woofer), one power cord to each speaker (ESL transformers), power to amps and long IC's to the gear rack.
