So this weekend a friend is coming over to put a new outlet in my wall to hide the wires for my led that is wall mounted. My problem is we have so many power outages here in northern illinois that last year with a surge protector my tv's power board died. So now that i have hung the tv i wont have much room for a surge protector. Can anyone recommend something? Maybe a mini surge protector? I dont know but i dont want to risk my tv. Any help would be appreciated.

    How about something like this:

Beats fooling with a bunch of pieces plugged in everywhere.

That will cover surge protection, but brown outs are just as bad. You need a UPS for that- I don't know of any flat wall mount ones off the top of my head but I'm sure they exist. If you're any good at pulling wires, you can just wire the outlet behind the tv to a plug that comes out someplace where you don't mind putting a bulky UPS.

Polyphaser is where you want to go. This is where the professionals who install this sort of protection go. Ever wonder how a radio station takes a lighting hit on their transmitter tower and are still able to broadcast afterwards it is because of Polyphaser. The best way of doing what you need is to have a central protective device that your power, data, telephone, and cable/satellite cables feed to. This way your entire house is protected.
