Dead Denon?

Bought a Denon AVR4800 cheap at a garage sale this past weekend. All functions seem to work well: accepts and sends video signal; recognizes audio inputs; remote and on screen functions work. Just no sound! Is it worth fixing?
Any ideas on problem?

    Open her open and take a look around, look for anything which looks odd.

    Is there a speaker on/off button? Like an a/b or something... Other than that, open it up and start hunting for fuses.

    If this is like a lot of these home theater receivers you can designate how given function is supplied. It is possible the input you are using has been configured for a digital feed. Try plugging into some of the other inputs to see if it will make noise for you.

    I would suggest performing a factory reset before trying anything more drastic. I've seen several Denons in my shop respond positively after this. Search the PDF manual for reinitialize, reset, default, etc and it will guide you through the process. Who knows how the previous owner had the unit configured. Good luck!

    I believe there should be some fuses inside. That was quite a receiver in its day. I have PDFs of the product sheet and owners manual. PM me with your email if you would like them.
