I just have to tell y'all, I'm so happy about this deal.
Well, I've been looking around for a good sub for quite a while, and today I finally found one I couldn't resist. I was previously looking at some Velodyne and Polk models, really just throwing around ideas. My main criteria was getting a very musical sub that could also delve quite deep into the depths, a difficult feat for a man with a budget.
But today, I found a deal I simply couldn't pass up. I went into Fry's after a ton of research, intending to get the Velodyne, and then came across this little guy.

Normally retailing for between $700-1000, they had it marked down to $200... I went home and researched it and then went back and found favorable reviews, so I went back and picked it up, after listening to it of course. It was the last floor model, so they were discontinuing it. It has a small scuff in the top left corner, but for that price, I didn't mind at all.. They couldn't find the speaker cover, so they knocked off another 5%. I couldn't care much less about that either, since I intended on leaving the cover off based on how sexy this thing is. I ended up getting the price down to $189....Couldn't be happier.
Got it home and set it up. First impression: this thing seriously kicks. It gets down to 22hz, and on top of that, it's sealed, so it's a very responsive sub for being a 12". I've been listening to it non-stop tonight, testing it with everything from Boston to Chris Botti to Daft Punk, and I couldn't be more giddy. It's performing quite flawlessly.
I think I'm probably going to be a bookshelf speaker/good sub combo advocate for the rest of my life.
