Receiver problems

I have been using my Denon 3803 to run a polk Lsi setup. However, the F*&king thing keeps shutting down every time I turn the volume up really loud b/c it can't handle the 4 ohm impedence of the Lsi. What is the best solution to this problem. I have the 25s running on large and the center and surrounds all on small. Should I use the sub out jack to the subs in the 25s and set them to small? Am I better off selling my 3803 and going with seperates? Would it be easier just to buy a 2 channel amp to handle the fronts?
Receiver: B&K AVR505

If the receiver has pre outs, buy an external amp. There's not much you can do with the receiver and LSi set up. You might want to try running everything on small but I doubt it's going to help much.

Well, you seem to have read a few posts about this, and therefore you have some good ideas already on how to fix the issue. First thing I would try is running your mains as small and as you said, send the signal to the woofs on them using the sub-out jack. This should take some of the strain off the reciever (will it be enough? can't tell till its done).

Seperates certinally seem to be the preferred way to go, but in your case (assuming the selecting of "small" doesn't do the trick) you could add amps along and along and use the reciever as your pre-amp...you would then have the option of fixing your problem with some number of added amps, or at least be on your way to an easy transition to seperates. Hope some of this helps.

i agree with the other guys... get at least a 150wpc two channel amp to power up those LSi's. a 200wpc would be even better. hooking the amp to you pre outs will also improve the sound some too. a nice benefit to external amps.

I've talked to a salseman a few days ago that has a setup simular to yours and he used that 3803 Denon and had the same probs.. he fixed it by returning the reciever and buying a onkyo 801 receiver. Says he dont have the prob anymore and that the Onkyo is rated for 4-8ohm speakers.

Also you could grab a Denon 4802R.. That thing is THX ultra2 certified.. it will handle down to 2ohm loads peak.. so i'm sure it can drive 4ohm speakers.

Just thinkin it would be cheaper then buying seperates.. plus just going with the front channel..how will the rest hold up?
