Hello:

My current setup is: Monitor 70 mains, Monitor 40 surrounds, CS2 center, PSW 505 Sub, and a Yamaha RX-A710 Amp. I have the 70's bi wired (don't think it really helps). I am selling all of the above, and upgrading to RTi A7 mains, FXi A6 Surrounds, and CSi A6 center, with a DSW Pro 660 sub, and a yamaha RX-A1010BL amp.

1st question: Will the new setup blow the doors off my current one (I do enjoy the sound of my current setup very much)
2nd question: Will the RX-A1010 be enough to drive the A7's without getting a power amplifier?

3: If I do get a power amplifier, should I just get a 2 channel, or a 5.1 channel?

4: Which brands are the best combo of price and performance, (I live next to VANNS, and they have Mcintosh (way expensive) and marantz (1000-2000).

Thanks!

Are you talking home theater or music or both? Sound quality or sheer power?

Well, I listen to about 60% ht, 40% music, but I appreciate music more, I guess I am saying music is more important, even though I don't listen to it as much. I am after sound quality, but I do not want to under power these A7's, I can get my hands on an RX-A1010 for 699, so I am really considering a serious upgrade. I do, occasionally, enjoy cranking my system though.

It will definitely be a nice upgrade. I think that AVR will be just fine, and if you decide to add an amp down the road you always have that option but i'd at least try it out first and see what you think.
