Need advice on getting best sound out of rti A7s

My 25 yr old speakers are finally toast, but I'm not replacing any components quite yet. Want rti a7s, but unless I've got enough juice, I may be disappointed, right?

I'm a total novice....Is there a way to get my Onkyo TX822 (100 watts) amped up for these speakers or am I out of luck?
Bottom line, suggestions on how to get these two to work best together.... Music only. Thanks in advance!

100 WPC should be more than ample for the RTiA7.

Have used them with a 40WPC receiver and presently with a 100WPC unit with excellent results on both counts.
    Main:
    McIntosh: MC 2155, MC 2125(x2), MR 80, C 32, MQ 101; Snell J7; Polk: RTiA7, RTiA9;
    Pioneer PL-518; A/T 440 MLa; Yamaha CD
    Vintage:
McIntosh: MX110Z, MC 2505, MC 240, Thorens TD 145; Shure V15III; Altec 14, Boston T1000; Yamaha CDX 393 CD; Yamaha Cass

I brought a set 5 months or so ago and tried all types of AVR's (Denon, Onkyo and finally Pioneer) I kept the Pioneer Elite 52 which is now powering my old Bose 301's. I listen to music mainly (latin, hiphop, pop, jazz etc...) so I needed to get these big boys to produce (big mothers - how do I ship them back - I had already thrown out the boxes and the styrofoam they came in fell apart when I unboxed them LOL...) So I connected the A7's back to my old seperates (nad 1155 preamp and nad 2200 power amp 100wpc 400 watts peak). They sounded better with the amp than with the AVR's I tried but they needed more power. I then went out and brought a Cerwin Vega cv-1800 AB amp (400wpc -800peak at 8ohms) Now I had the power I needed but there was something missing.( bass and mids lacking punch and bass very boomy) With further research I found out that for these floorstanders to to make your music sing you needed to plug the ports... and I mean all the ports (I started with socks and finally had some custom made form inserts. Now there kicking!!! I'm planning on trying some rubber stoppers to eliminate any air leakage an turn them into sealed enclosures.(long story LOL...)

By the way the Pioneer Elite 52 has preouts for each channel(I now have the nad 2200 running off the front preout to the Bose 301's)

Well sorry I got carried away. Bottom line with the RTI A7's is good clean power amp and a good preamp section to manage it.

Now for HT the Pioneer Elite 52 and a 5 or 7 channel poweramp might work for you.

    Right Now
I have my panasonic plasma connected thru a digital (toslink) to analog convertor connected to the tape in jack on my nad 1155 preamp and trust me when something explodes you feel it; and maybe the neighbors to.LOL...

Fine tuning never ends but thats what makes all worth while.
    Good luck

    Welcome to Club Polk!

It is true that a separate power amp and pre-amp of the high current variety will pump those speakers "up" and make them sound like they should.

The Onkyo, it seems is only a 50 watt x 2 channel unit. Definitely not enough power for true fidelity on RTi-A7s. You need MORE!

Does the Onkyo also have PRE-OUTS on its backside? Because if it does you could just add a better power amp?
