Will Your Internet be Shut Off in July?

The DNS changer malware group that was busted last Nov. infected a lot of computers. The FBI has been running a server to intercept infected machines but this will end in July. If your computer is infected, you will not be able to get on the internet according to reports. You'll just get a page not found error.
You can go here to get a quick check: http://www.dcwg.org/detect/
Here's some background on the issue. This has been in the news reports in the last few days. http://www.dcwg.org/
As always, keep your protection up to date.

This is a good post and the article was informative as well. I read this yesterday and hopefully some others did also. I have run into variants of this at work on machines and it is nasty. The variant we had shuts down any virus software and we could not use Malwarebytes. Even trying to go install a fresh copy is thwarted. Really the only safe way to get it out is format and reinstall your operating system. I even tried AVGs Rescue Disk on the virus to no avail. And that is basically one of the last stands. AVGs Rescue Disk boots Linux which is supposed to see all files on your PC. Good software. I did manage to remove our variant by booting in safemode and running Malwarebytes and then the virus software. But still I did not trust the operating system.SDA2BTL

Some kind of malware invaded my big rig last night. I thought I'd lost everything !!!!. My daughter came over and checked it out and assured me all my files are still there. She is taking it to her shop Monday for repairs. I'm using this crappy mini-laptop for a back-up. I will only make one comment on people that do things like this to other people..... SCUMBAGS.If you can't hear a difference, don't waste your money. -

Well, if you're not affected, then you really won't care. I look at the OP's post as a PSA.

The malware redirects your request to their servers. After the FBI busted the group, they set up a server to intercept the infected requests. The FBI server will be removed from the system in July. When the infected requests go online, it won't find the server and therefore get the page not found. This is not a joke.>

What I usually do is remove the Hard Drive.
Go to another PC that has MalwareBytes & MSE with all current updates and I connect a Blacx dock and insert the Hard Drive and do full scans. Past 10 times I did this I was able to clean the connected Hard Drive 8 times. Two were infected way too long.
This a great tool that eliminates the need to remove the hard drive. It boots to CD, even updates to the latest definitions, and then scans. We've been using it with great success for months, it's worked every time so far. Does take an hour or two though.

^^^ kind of ironic I can't connect to your link. "server not found"
H9"Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment. Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it.
