Flac Files

I want to try Flac files from my laptop to my AVR. The AVR will play Flac files but I need some kind of sharing software via DLNA on my laptop. I did download the codec for WMP and now WMP will play Flac files but the AVR will not. I'm new to this and want to hear what Flac files sound like. I got some sample files from HDtracks.

Can anyone point me in the right direction and/or tell me what software I need. I'm running Windows 7.

    You merely need to turn on DLNA and point your AVR to your laptop's DLNA server. This should get you pointed in the right direction:

    Thanks for your reply but I still can't get this working. Went thru all the steps for DLNA server and the AVR sees the Flac file but when I push play it says Unable to play on my Yamaha AVR. I really want to hear what these sound like but its really frustrating trying to figure this out! :mad:

    TVersity will work with Onkyo, Pioneer, and Denon receivers I've used. Logitech Media Server works w/ my Pio. I'd go with one of those 2 setups before futzing w/ anything native to Windows 7.

    Thanks PrazVT, I'll try that. I think if I understood what was needed I might be able to fix this. I mean the AVR will play mp3's, the computer will play mp3's and send them to the AVR and play them. So whats different with Flac's. What else is needed besides being able to play on a PC, send to an AVR and play on the AVR? Everything my mp3's and flac's do are the same except flac's won't play on the AVR.

    Finally figured this out. I'm using Asset UPnP and it seems to be working perfectly. :cool:
