Hey all check these out. I have not heard them but have dealt with this vendor and for my experience they have been very good to deal with.

why is it more expensive than the RD0194-1 from Polk directly?

One this company don't buy as many and 2 it's not more expensive Polk's are 48.00 for club members and 60.00 for non members. yes this company charges shipping but the upside is that if you have SL1000 you do not have to modify to fit RDO194's. I'm not stating it's better or anything else just an option.

Probably because it's not the same manufacturer, seller, or driver.

I'd stick with the Polk approved driver or if someone wants to be a guinea pig and try this. One thing to note is the bezel for the sl1000 is a tad smaller than the Polk RD0 replacement so there is some minor dremel modification of the opening involved.

I know Midwest Speaker has a good rep, so maybe a call to them about what and how they derived at this for a drop in replacement is in order. Never hurts to have a solid back-up vendor.

NM........guess I should read all the associated literature in the ad before commenting.

Note since the bezel size is different between the peerless and sl1000 some modification might be necessary. I'd also investigate if the sl1000 and peerless had the same electrical properties.

These look more like Peerless direct replacement than sl1000

either way they took the time to have a company make a silk dome instead of some sort of plastic. Like you and I stated Brock it's just another option to help some folks out with a fried tweeter.

The company is about 3 miles from me. It is an exact copy of the original Denmark made Peerless tweeter used by Polk from around 1978 to 1980. The only difference is Polk put a hole in dome to vent it in the later version 79-80.

Peerless still sold these tweeters up until about 9 years ago when the tooling cracked. They called it quits at that point. No more made

Some one mentioned the holes being different for SL1000 and Peerless. The holes fror SL1000 and Peerless are identical they are a direct swap out for each other. I thnk there may be about a 1/64 difference in the face plates but i have never had an issue just swapping them out on anything I have owned. KG

The RD0194-1 is 3/16" wider than an SL1000 and has different hole spacing.

These were discussed last year and "I think" I remember someone trying them out, but I don't remember who

you're looking at a peerless replacement. looks like the one from midwest speaker found here: http://w.mawebcenters.com/midwestspeaker/ecommerce/home-audio/tweeters/mw-audio-mt-4115-tweeter.html

it would be interesting to see the spec sheets side by side and also how they sound compared to the original peerless.
