Did they get into any HT at all? Or were they going strictly music?

Thanks for your review. You can't miss what you've never heard..... so now you have a pinnacle to refer to.

I've read alot of great reviews about the Blades. I'm glad yours was up there with most others.

    Thanks again.
Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.

Thanks for the review Phil. Concerning your experience with the Blades, I know exactly what you mean. A casual friend has been an audio wholesaler for 30 years and a few years ago he finally assembled what to him was his dream system. All Meridian front end gear and Mark Levinson Mono blocs and he had a pair Revel Salon's see here in a completely treated listening room. I have not heard anything close to the sound of those speakers in that room before or since. Simply blew me away, so I know exactly where you are coming from. The Salon's retailed for about $20K depending on how extravagant you wanted the finish to be.

I know what you mean. A trip back home afforded me an opportunity to hear a pair...had to scrape myself off the floor..amazing clarity and soundstage...effortless? Mind blowing to say the least.

The next month they were going to have a pair of Magico Q5 on hand to demo, really wanted to get back for that but wasn't able to...maybe soon.

You won't find anything HT related at Stephen's store...strictly 2 channel & tubes at that. Hs clientel is there strictly for the purity of 2 channel systems & his business is off the charts...go figure when other 2 channel guys had to embrass HT to survive.

I'm with you but some have the means & a mere 30K is nothing more than petty cash. I almost fell on the foor when the middle aged couple told Stephen to write up the sale. They were on a quest & after hearing the Blade...that was all she wrote. Dang!!!

Sure it wasn't staged? I remember being a part of a company who would do this type of thing. Monkey see monkey do!

I have the Q300's on the way. Can't wait to hear the Uni-Q drivers!

Yep, 30g's is a spit in the bucket if you have major coin in the bank. I'm still amazed at those upper levels of audio, the amount of competition is unreal. Still alot of rich folks in this country I guess. More power to 'em, at least their spending it.

i'll start with the r300 bookies in ebony. They literally dissapeared in the room, now i know that lingo is touted alot but i mean literally it was as if there were no walls holding them back. Again everyone that listened to them made the identical comments. The bass was just perfect, not at all boomy nor lacking. The mids & highs were spot on & drew you into the music. Pianos sounded so real it was uncanny.

as an owner of a pair of piano black r300 i can say that this is spot on. They have no difficulty filling a room with bass and have extremelly clear mf and hf. They are stunning to look at but much more stunning to listen to them.

My two options were the r300, the q900 and the 703 but the r300 got my attention with the fit and finish. I am very very very happy with them and the next upgrade will be adding a sub.

    Thanks for sharing pearl

It sounds like you're really liking those R300's!!!! They are superb performers that's for sure. If I might add a recommendation for a sub...a Velodyne SPL-1200R (or two ) to compliment your new speakers. They are extremely, & I mean extremely musical & can still bring it big time for HT.

Velodyne doesn't manufacture that model no more. Would the "Optimum" series be it's replacement?

Yes, I believe so. I'd put a quick call into Velodyne to confirm but I'm almost positive that the Optimum is the SPL's replacement.

Quite frankly, I think it's ugly (Optimum). That SPL was a good read while browsing the web. Would love to hear duals.
