OPPO BDP 95 or 93 Questions

Leaning heavily on getting a Oppo BDP95
I originally wanted to get a 93 used to save a few $$. However, I like the info I have been reading about the SQ that the 95 produces. I will be listening to my system 75% HT 25% music
I have been confused will all the different zones etc. If I am correct and purchase direct from Oppo, the unit is "North American". So, I assume I can only play material produced for this zone...i.e. if I buy The Police - Outlandos Amour (Japan)...it won't work. Can someone please clarify this for me?
Also, I see on EB there is a group that reworks the Oppo so they are zone free...they seem to be for about $300 more....is this a good option?
Please give me your thoughts on the 93 vs the 95 and any insight on what i should be looking out for.
System will be 5.1 to start
-Panasonic VT50 65"
-Nad M25 Amp
-Marantz AV7005 Pre
-Full LSiM series (707,703,706C, MiroPro 4000)
Thanks in advance!

It depends how you hook it up. If you use the OPPO -> Marantz via HDMI for audio then there isn't much benefit of the 95. Even going analog, if you use Audyssey you will loose some of the benefit of the 95 due to the degregation of the A-> D -> A conversion.

Zones are for Blu-Rays, not CDs or SACDs. The Oppo 95 is highly rated for its analog out audio. As Gaara stated, using digital out there is no difference in sound between the 93 and 95. I believe the same thing applies for picture quality between the 93 and 95. I have the Oppo 93 and find its picture to be better than my Oppo 83.Lumin X1 file player, Westminster Labs interconnect cable

i bought 93 also and couldn't justify the added cost....IMO, using that $500 to upgrade crossover will yield more improvement than going from 93 to 95....or new cables...
if it was $200 difference, then yes I would've bought 95...Video: LG 55LN5100/Samsung LNT4065F

I believe the 95 uses better HDMI processing chips so there is a difference in the picture but I could be wrong......
**ninja edit** Ignore my post, quick search says they use the same video chips....."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." William Bruce Cameron, Informal Sociology: A Casual Introduction to Sociological Thinking (1963) -

Thanks for the input.
Anyone have any thoughts or experience on the NAD M56?
Any thoughts on the NAD M56 vs the Oppo's?
The Oppos seem like excellent players at a more then reasonable price for what you seem to get in return(Performance)based on reviews, comments, awards etc
Is there a big diff going from what is considered "Budget"- Oppo,(Although they seem real nice to me) to more recognized higher end BRPlayers?

Rocket I don't believe twice the cost is going to be a huge benefit, also the NAD56 does not play SACD if thats your cup of tea...IMHO2-channel: Modwright KWI-200 Integrated, Dynaudio C1-II Signatures

I have the 95. The sound via analog is outstanding! The build quality is second to none. Regarding the Audessy - The OPPO has manual calibration screens. I took the measurements from my Audessy and plugged them into the OPPO. If you don't plan on using the analog outputs, save some money and get the 93. This player makes my old DVD,s look good.

Have you listened to a 93 analog out? If so, how much of a step up is the 95?
I hooked up my 93 today, analog out, for the first time and thought is sounded better than HDMI (several CD's and a 2-ch SACD).
It's not a ton better, but since I have enough extra IC's I'll keep it analog out.
Now I'm wondering HOW much better a 95 would be????
I know all of the reviews say it is, but I'd like to hear from someone who actually did the comparison and kept the 95 over the 93.HT

Sorry, I have never used the 93, only the 95 so I can't really comment on it. Keep in mind the DAC and most internals in the audio stage of the 95 to include the power supply, are completely upgraded over the 93. All I know is I used my 95 for around 6 weeks and just to see what kind of difference it really was, I hooked up my old Sony Blu-Ray. The Sony is an POS in picture quality and ESPECIALLY sound quality compared to the 95. If you have the coin go for the 95, I'm glad I did - This thing is a permanent fixture in my system.
-
if you connect OPPO 93 or 95 via HDMI, there is no difference....
also it depends on what does DAC...OPPO 93 or 95 or your receiver
you said old Sony bluray player, which I assume you are using HDMI connection to receiver...Video: LG 55LN5100/Samsung LNT4065F

Did you get any of the Polk speakers yet? -
Assuming that "music" as 25 percent is important to you, get the 95, hook it up both ways: HDMI and L/R analog and switch back and forth as needed. You WILL hear a difference on CDs and SACDs through the analog hook-up and it will be superior to the HDMI output for the most part. Why short change yourself?

CNH - lol..ughhh..now you mention that! I did get some info from Oppo CS..they said go with the 93. Down the road a bit 1 year...I might get the 95...we will see. I already ordered and I will be fine with the 93...for now. :>)
Leroy - I have the 707 currently. Im putting my big purchase soon. Maybe by early June. I have possession of the NAD M25 too...I just sit and stare at them. I have the 707s hooked up to my old Pioneer and some basic monster cable...sounds nie, but cant wait to get the whole system done and fore up a Blue Ray or SACD! Construction starts end of July.
I also was going to get 4 703s..(2 as my rears in the HT)now I might go with 2 705s and only 2 703s. If I have to put an estimated $1,300-$1,600 in to speaker stands I figure screw it and go with the 705's for a different zone for 2 channel listening...100% music. Figure I might as well put it in to speaker/sound then in to lead shot and steel! This would give me the whole LSiM line up and I will get a good gauge of how the different speakers sound. I might use the 705s in the HT since that is a smaller space. The 707s will want to breath a bit. Everything is starting to get there...just need to be patient a lil longer.HOME THEATER 5.1

I picked up a 95. It will be here Friday. I just knew that I would regret getting the 93 instead down the road. I do listen to a lot of 2 channel but I like my bass management on my Integra. Not sure how the 95 handles the subs in analog ...?Sharp Elite 70
