I saw a thread on subs and though it odd I have been debating this same scenario in my 5.1

Which piece should I set my speaker distance/trim/gain on. The Oppo (source) or the TGIII (pre/pro) and regardless of which is the better choice where should I set the other?

Thanks folks, 1C

Not sure I am following your question but I would do the speaker settings on the pre/pro. Not sure why you want to do anything on the source except standard stuff like PCM
Speakers: SDA-1C (most all the goodies)
Preamp: Joule Electra LA-150 MKII SE
Amp: Wright WPA 50-50 EAT KT88s
    Analog: Marantz TT-15S1 MBS Glider SL| Wright WPP100C Amperex BB 6er5 and 7316 & WPM-100 SUT
    Digital: Mac mini 2.3GHz dual-core i5 8g RAM 1.5 TB HDD Music Server Amarra (memory play) - USB - W4S DAC 2
Cables: Mits S3 IC and Spk cables| PS Audio PCs

If your OPPO is connect by HDMI, then do all your settings in the receiver, the only setting in the oppo that would be relevant is the audio out setting. You have to tell it what to do with the audio. If you have the oppo connected by analog outputs, then use the settings in the oppo for speakers.

It is connected vis Toslink with hdmi audio off,. Bitstream-PCM 192k. I changed the distance around and don't really notice a huge difference there. If it has a bypass when the output is fixed I didn't notice it in the manual but that doesn't always mean much LOL?

I just zeroed all the settings/distances/trims on the Oppo and set all speakers to small. I do notice a more defined surround effect. I think I'll tweak the Pre/Pro and see if can get anymore out of it.

Not using it for video then ? If just connected by toslink, all your speaker settings should be done in the avr then, as most all speaker settings are done in the digital domain.
