Whip songs

The "worst song" thread got me thinking about this. Not really looking for the worst song, just the song that whips you to death. If you were being interrogated and the police put this song on repeat you'd tell them everything they wanted to know before the song was even finished.

For me:

Walking on Sunshine: Katrina and the Waves

Karma Chameleon: Culture Club

Too Shy: Kajagoogoo

Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go: Wham

Notice an 80's theme there?

aww, I kind of like that one - its pro-bestiality stance notwithstanding.
    America covered it, too...

    Black Velvet - Alannah Myles

For extra potency, it would be performed by a middle-aged bar rat wearing acid washed mom jeans, a tank top and enough Aqua Net in her hair to send Al Gore into seizures.
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

    Video Killed the Radio Star!

Something happened with my work radio player early last year where even though the music was still shuffling other songs, there must have been a programming issue as I heard this song a minimum 8 times per day/shift for 4 months until I was transferred to a new store.

Right there with you on It's a Small, Small World. Scientifically proven to be the Mother of all Earworms. ;-)

Now, as to Ms Melanie Safka and Brand New Key... guess we have to agree to disagree on that one :-P

All songs so far are fairly whip-worthy for sure.

Forget to mention it originally and I'm glad no one has done it yet, but please don't list songs that are just overplayed. I have several that would fit that category. Most are good songs that I've just heard too much.

First impulse is same as my "worst Song" answer... Bobby Goldsboro's Honey.... but at worst it would give you cavities and maybe diabetes.

For excruciating "Is it safe?" level torture Chicago's Free Form Guitar tops my list. I've lost track of the number of times I've sat, swearing this time I'll listen to the whole track," and failed...

I love most of Chicago's 1st album. To me it's still their best work. In general, after Terry Kath died and Peter Cetera became more of the leader their music turned into sappy love songs played to a drum and bugle corps marching beat.

Free Form Guitar is one of the songs I skip - Not too crazy about the blues number either.

I agree I also wish the recording quiality was better! and not just the 1st one and the 2nd lp also is an amazing lp. I have tried the remastered version as well and it still sounds like **** but, the music is sooo damm good!
