Anthem Amp 1 - In great shape for its age. No scratches that I can see. All bias resistors are new. With stock tubes, asking $550 shipped in original box.

Optional tubes for the anthem:

1 Rare Valvo 12AX7 ECC83 45 Degree Getter. See Pic for manufacturing info. When I bought, it tested 1950 Micromhos on the first triode and 1850 Micromhos on the second. $85 shipped

2 Telefunken 12AU7 tubes made in w. Germany Tested 2250/2250 by seller when I bought them. $100 shipped

I have put probably a few hundred hours on the Valvo and Telefunken tubes. Hard to keep track of exact time.

4 Ei EL34 tubes. Used only for a few hours. $100 shipped

    Used this amp (not THIS amp) but same amp while my Odyssey amps were at Klaus's one time and can attest it is a fantastic amp and this price is wonderful!

    For those of you with smaller SDA's,,you should seriously consider this amp,,I had one that I powered my 1C's with and it was heaven. easy way to get into tube amplification,,there is one cap tweak that really takes it to the next level. Whomever ends up with it,,,,I'd be happy to share the tweak or even do it for you.some jensen pio caps will do the trick,and it won't break the bank.Good luck with the sale.

    Thanks for the bump George. This amp is a piece of heaven with modded SDA 1C's. It also handles the 2.3TL's with ease but with the 2.3's now performing double duty in the HT, I'm driving them with the Parasound.

    Time was,,,this would have been gone in a day---for you guys that own 1C's,,2B's (especially the tl'd 2B's)you are missing out on something.I'm gonna tell you that I have two regrets in amp sales,,one was my Belles 350a and the other was my Anthem Amp One

    Agree George, really a sweetheart of an amp. If I had not just got my new preamp it would be mine.

    I wonder how treasure 6ca7 tubes would sound. The Ei I got from Jesse were sweet in my amp 1.

    Sure seems to be a lot talk lately but no action.

    Awesome amplifier....really a special piece.
    CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

    Payment sent. Thanks y'all. I can't wait to hear how this sounds compared to my Anthem Amp 2 SE with Dutch Phillips tubes. I'm still running thsmith's old Anthem Pre-1L with modified caps and Phillips tubes as my pre. This should be a great match. I know I love how the AMP-2 SE sounds with it. I can't wait to compare the two.

    A Sylvania 5751 3 mica bp D getter in the AMP 1 is very nice.
    Speakers: SDA-1C (most all the goodies)

    Thanks for the suggestion. I'm going to see how things sound with the tube compliment listed above and then go from there. I tend to prefer warmer sounding tubes like Amperex/Phillips, Mullard, Brimar, and Ediswan 6922s, and RCA Grey Plates in the 12a** familly. I love the way my system sounds now, but every now and then wish I had slightly more extension in the highs. I'm hoping the combo of running the Dutch-Phillips 6922s in my Pre combined with the Valvo/Telefunken/EI tube compliment in the Amp 1 will maybe give me the best of both worlds. We'll see. What are some of y'alls recommedations for EL34s that are on the warmer side of things while still having good highs and won't break the bank?

    Besides George's recomendation on Wing C El34, the Sylvania 5751 I mentioned paired with Tung Sol or RCA clear top 12AU7s in that amp should get you there. The 12AU7s are the input side tubes for that amp. I really liked the RCA CTs in that slot. Nice bass punch too. I think I have some laying around I could send you to try.

    Thanks Jaycee. If in the unlikely event I end up prefering the Amp 2 to this, you'll be the first person I contact if I decide to get rid of it. I have two Anthem Amp 2s. I would offer to sell you one of those but I want to keep two in anticipation of having the room for one of the big boy SDAs (1.2 TL, 2.3 TL, or SDA SRS) again in the future. I'm going to bi-amp them.

    Tracy thank you very much for the offer. I definitely want to take you up on that offer if you find them. I will be out of town for the next few weeks, so when I get closer to heading home I'll PM you. That's the only thing that's going to be a bummer, I won't be able to hear the Amp-1 in the system for about three more weeks. All well, I'll really have that to look forward to.
