For sale vintage Pioneer SX 1010 receiver. Not some garage sale find. I am the 2nd owner or this unit. It is from the golden era of Pioneer and was made in 1975. It is the model that started the receiver wars. Features 100 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 105 in 4 ohms. I have tried or owned Pioneer receivers from the SX 050, SX 080s and SX 3*** and have found the SX 030 series and 1010 to be the best sounding to my ears.
Has bass and treble controls with turnovers, high, low filters, nono stereo, loudness, -20db muting . Also has hookups for 2 turntables, 2 tape decks, 3 sets of speakers, 1 aux, 1 adaptor and preamp out main amp in.
The unit works great and the controls work as they should and have been cleaned . The controls feel great and silky.. Also the AM antena is broken but those can be found. The receiver looks beautiful when turned on
The front panel and window are very nice . The cabinet also very nice with a few scratches and one chip on top on the right side of the grill . There is one very small lifing right next to the side of the top grill. Oveall very very nice and above average. the fact everything works is a bonus.. This thing weighs 50 lbs and is built like a tank. Put the build quality together with the look and the sound and we have winner from when gear was gear. Check my feedback Asking $275 Thanks, keith

Boy, if there is ONE Pioneer I'd love to get my hands on, this is it. But I'm tapped out, at the moment. That's also a decent price, Keith!
Going to have to wait this one out. I do consider this unit the King of the classic Pioneers. As described, I prefer its sound to the later monster SX-1250s and 1980s.
And it looks MINT besides! Where on earth are you digging these up? (And "why" wouldn't you just keep this one--I know I would never let it go!)?

Keith, in your opinion, which sounds better the SX-939 or the SX-1010? Like you I have always though that the x3x series sounds great but I've not heard an SX-1010 and know that they're very popular but wasn't sure if it was from a sound standpoint or an historical/collectible standpoint. Thanks!

IMHO, the SX1010 is better than the SX939. It has so much more headroom and warmth.
I owned one of these and would still have it but had to sell some stuff off and this made the list. -
Bingo, he is correct. They have both been sold Thanks,KG
