So my 11 year old tells me she is bored, she has more toys, games etc than I ever did when I was her age.
I told her to go out side and play with her little sister and brother and she " And do WHAT ??? "

Man I tell ya I was never in side when I was that old. I was always out doing things until 9:00 pm or until Mom
would stand on porch and yell my name and to come home.

GONE ARE THOSE DAYS I guess..... Do you remeber those days and what was some things you did?

Mine where:
Fishing
Basketball with friends
Kick the can
hide and seek
and many many more.

Died to be outside like every other kid in America! Late 70s throughout the 80s. Big Toy, slide's, swing's. Driveway Basketball (Magic Johnson to Micheal Jordan days), yard Football ( Danny White, Montana, Phil Sims days), Street Football ( played anywhere we could ), Hide and go Seek, Tag, Soccer, Baseball ( Nolan Ryan days ). Bike riding ( freestyling days/home built street half pipe/ramp days ), "Poser" Skateboarding and onto the intro of Scooters ( No not that kind, the kind you stand on and power with your leg ). Going back to more specific. Grade school: Hop Scotch, 4 Squares, Tether ball, London Bridges, Sandbox. Always wanted to join Cub Scouts. Damn, goes on and on.. All outdoor stuff.

Happiness moment for kid? The Remote Control - gone were the days of the kid-human remote. Uninterrupted outside time. Defining moment for "Adult Coach Potato"

Today? Kids are all Hermits and have zero problem being inside and in the room. Being grounded back then meant "zero outside" activities. Today? Grounded - go outside! They are completely lost and tortured. I dont even want to go into the spanking. Every other day, home or school. Kids today are wusses. No offense...

Grew up in North Dakota - got my first 22 semi-automatic rifle at the age of six years, my first shotgun at eight years and my first deer rifle at 10. There was always something to shoot at out on our property. :loneranger: Started riding mini bikes and snowmobiles at about the same age - usually had a pretty thick coat of mud/snow on me. First drove at the age of twelve and got my driver's license at 14....then, off to find the babes. From there, it's a blur!

Now, I have nephews that are in the 15 - 18 years age group and I cringe at the thought of any of them even holding a BB gun or being behind the wheel of a car...I seriously think common sense skipped a generation. They can sure work an XBOX controller though! So, they got that goin' for them....which is nice.

Grew up in Pennsylvania. I loved baseball, wiffle ball, hand ball, stick ball, dodge ball, riding my bicycle, playing army, trowing rocks at targets, building model cars, road race set, climbing trees, expliring the woods (city woods). We had three TV stations, I enjoyed the Three Stooges, Flintstones, Warner Bros. cartoons, Soupy Sales, Ed Sullivan (yes I saw the Beatles and Stones live). I hated rain but we had a lot of board games, many are still popular today. Monopoly, Life, Clue, checker, chess and many others. I was seldom bored.

Football, more Basketball than I care to remember. We even played neighboring hoods in Basketball. From there it was Hide and Seek, Freeze Tag, BMX freestylng and ramp jumping. I want to say I had my go-kart at that age, so I rode the heck out of it and crashed it.
    Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

    Grew up in rural Tennessee.

Caught Crawdads and let them fight in ice chest full of water (never to the death!)
Turned over every dead log/rock in the woods to see what was underneath
Observed every insect with amazement and grew a healthy respect for every living thing
    Played with my dogs
    Ran everywhere
Made ramps and jumped them with bike
Prowled the hillsides collecting Indian money and various rocks/flint
Caught more crawdads (favorite pass time I guess!)

If it isn't battery powered it's no fun, she is always bored when she can not get any friend on face time w/ her
I-pod touch ( which i didn't think she needed but her God father bought any way) Board games she said SUCK!!
I take her fishing and to the gun club but even that is no fun if she can't catch a fish right away. She is fine with
shooting but after a few times she is done. My 5 year old will sit for hours with me fishing , not old enough to
shoot yet. My boy is 2 and loves doing every thing he can and what he not to be doing.

When I was a kid, my favorite was punching some other kids.

Growing old certainly means you can't do that anymore.
Trying out Different Audio Cables is a Religious Affair. You don't discuss it with anyone.:biggrin:
