I now have purchased a 2nd house here in Florida. One of the many things I need to buy is a new 2-channel audio system for this house.

I have already set my eyes on a new Onkyo A-9070 integrated amp that will be available for sale in the USA within 2 months. Additionally, I will be buying a new CD player for the source material.

That leaves the speakers. What I want is a pair of floor standing speakers for the front, and a pair of bookshelf speakers set on speaker stands for the rear. From past experience, I prefer listening to 2-channel music in both A/B mode instead of just using a set of front speakers. The music just seems more "open" and "spacious" while useing 4 speakers.

Anyway, my question's are ...

1. Is there a big difference in quality between the TSi floor standers and the more expensive RTi floor standers?

I understand the RTi line of speakers are finished in wood veneer while the less expensive TSi line uses a vinyl covering. I also noticed that the more expensive RTi floor standers weigh quite a bit more than a comparable size TSi speaker.

2. Is the cherry wood veneer finish on the RTi line that much nicer looking than the vinyl covering on the TSi?

3. Again, the RTi is alot heavier ... Is the sound quality that much better on the RTi since it's obiously a heavier made speaker?

I'm just a little confused as to what to buy as far as speakers.
Thank's for any input you folks may have :)

Ron,

    Ron,

    Welcome! (kamusta ka pare!)

The sound quality of the RTi's is much better because the drivers, tweeters, and all of the components throughout are much better.

The real wood veneer also looks more natural than the vinyl on the monitors, though this is a bigger factor when looking at the cherry speakers.

Mystik .... Thank's for the info .... I was also looking at a pair of Aperion Intimus 5, a pair of Axiom M50 v3, and a pair of Energy Veritas v6.2

But I keep thinking the Polk RTi may be just as good of an option for something in the $700-$900 range for a pair of floor standers.

Thank's for the welcome ... I used to post on this board about 8 years ago, but I forgot my username and password, so I just re-registered.

Hey Turbo, I've seen a couple of your threads and it seems they all revolve around your musical set up. So I thought I would post my question here.

    I see you're considering the RTiA7 for your mains. Have you considered the A9 instead? The reason I ask, for HT it probably wouldn't matter too much, but for music, the A7's lack in the midrange when compared to the A9. Here is a little read for you;

It looks like you're a big fan of Onkyo stuff, I'm interested to hear how that equipment sounds. Best of luck with your new set up.
