How is the duty collected in the case of ground mail, like postage due?

In my friend's case I believe he recieved a bill from UPS. Others I've heard charge your credit card if you used one, but not sure in all cases if UPS has access to your CC if your purchase is made from a third party.

I have ordered a lot of stuff from China there was no duty, why would It be an issue with Parts Connxion then I realized the Chinese outfits had US store fronts and Parts Connxion does not. Thanks to this forum and thread I have saved enough money to more then cover whatever it will be. As near as I can tell the only the cap's would have duty on them they are made in France, The Mills resistors is at least is an American Company

As far as I'm aware it has nothing to do where the product is made or manufactured. But, I am not an expert on duty tax. I just know what people I know have had to pay even for used merchandise shipping it across the borders from CDN to USA. My brother paid over $80 in duty taxes for a used Adcom amp he bought on ebay from someone in Canada. That was about 6-7 years ago. It always involved UPS or FED EX.

I just checked at a site where you can calculate Duty tax from Canada to the US and according to it's calculator there is no duty of electronic parts. We will just wait and see.

P.S. You can alway tell a Federal employee we cannot spell the word form, I mean from.

That is the reason I was concerned about shipping. I once ordered a golf club from a place in Canada and didn't notice all the cost involved in shipping and ended up paying half as much for shipping and fees as I did for the club. I'm very cautious now.

Again a tax (not sure if duty is the right word) was just charged by UPS to a friend for electronic parts sent from Parts Connexion to the United States. The charge was from the carrier not the Canadian government or other "official" government body.

They charge the Duty Fee to cover Customs costs when shipping country to country. Electronics being sold from a reputable company to an individual is duty free.

Kinda reminds me of the British back in the mid 1700's.

I now have everything in hand for rebuilding of the XO's. A interesting thing about the Sonicaps, I purchased four 12uF 200V cap's thanks to the sale I saved $18.00 dollars on them even though I didn't ask they are a match set, it isn't going to make any real difference but a nice perk' from Sonicap. I am really impressed with Parts ConneXion the order from them arrived today (4/19). They are going to see more orders form me I see I am going to have to make a very minor change in the circuit boards of the 10B's. I am replacing the polyswitches (PS) with 1/2 ohm resistors, they are a lot longer then the PS's so I am going to have to drill at least one new hole to fit the Mills on the board. No problem I have Dremel and little drill bits just for this purpose. Oh boy the 10B's will be blasting on Saturday.

Which Saturday? I was looking forward to hearing your thoughts on how the 10Bs sound with the Sonicaps and the Axon caps

Well I did recap the XO's, and installed Miller resistors, however when I went to fire them up I discovered one of the 10B's had a pair of bad MW-6503's which I have ordered from Polk so the blasting has be put off for a few days.
