Hi all, im not sure im posting in the right place, but im having some issues connecting my pc to my receiver and my receiver to my tv via hdmi. Problem is i can connect them all, and the sound quality is very good, but when it comes to video quality its pretty ****... When i connect my pc straight to the tv via hdmi the video quality is a lot better, but i lose on sound quality....
So is it normal to lose video quality using the receiver for connection to the tv? Could it be the quality of my receiver? Or am i just doing something wrong?
My tv is 50" samsung plasma 1080p
My receiver yamaha rx-v367 being replaced by yamaha Rx-A1010BL
Using all monster HDMI cables
Any help? Any thoughts? Thanks

One thing you might try, if your tv has an optical out, then you could send the video straight to the tv, and then send the audio from the tv back to the receiver. Not the optimal solution of course, but it might be worth a shot.TV - LG 42" LED

I used another dvd player to setup the video on the TV, then used the computer to setup the picture to match what I had via the dvd player. Just a thought.

I use a v-link to my Pio Elite recv'r.....optical out>V-link>optical in on recv'r.......I use a Dvi to hdmi cable for the video to my tv.....the v-link passes a digital signal to the recv'r and also passes 5.1 DD.....it sounds terrific.
That's the way I do it....peter -
Im going to have to give the "optical out" some thought... But since on this subject, how good is the sound quality compared to a connection using the hdmi??
And one more question would it work if i connect my pc to the tv using hdmi, and then pluging another hdmi cable from tv to receiver? So maybe the sound will go from my tv into the receiver... Not sure if this would work becaus my tv doesnt say hdmi out on any of the ports...
Trying to do all this because my pc is the only thing i have that plays hd and blue ray movies...receiver: yamaha RX-A1010BL 7.2

It's very possible your tv is set too high / Touch setup, And your computer video is off also.

Yeah that might be the case... The resolution is off... I either get the screen pc too stretched out or with black sides eating about 1 inch on each side... Played with the resolution for a bit yesterday but didnt get anywhere...
Its definetelly more dificult than i anticipated to have all this working the way i want...receiver: yamaha RX-A1010BL 7.2

It may sound a bit crazy but rebooting has helped my screen sizing problems at times. Have you rebooted the computer?

Make sure the computer is either 1080i or 720p output. Some tv's will show you a picture, but gives you issues also.

all right so after getting home from work, i received my new receiver from ups, hooked everything up and started messing with the connections again, after about an hour or so i finally got it...i just didnt have the right resolution on my pc.
now i have my pc connect to my receiver and my receiver connected to the tv via HDMI, and i get perfect image on my tv and getting perfect sound from my tv to the receiver, very happy.
its out of this world the quality in sound, not sure which made it sound so much better (the HDMI connection or the new receiver or both)
1 thing is for sure the yamaha rx-v1010bl is one sweet receiver....
