Hi guys,

New to the forum. The CS350 brought me here. I was in need of a center and my friend nicely let me borrow the center he had collecting dust in the garage. I was blown away.

I'm now on the hunt for one of my own and have found 2 locally.

One is part of a set that includes a pair of ls90, cs 350, and a pair of lsfx for $600. Is this a good price for the set?

Any advice or impressions of the series are greatly appreciated and if there is already an LS line appreciation thread--please steer a noob in the right direction.

Thanks guys!

If the speakers are in excellent condition, I wouldn't hesitate to pay that price. That is one fine setup, IMO. It's what I would have if I had the space for it. If the speakers are not in excellent condition I would try to talk him down a smidgen, maybe.

$600 is a great deal, expecially if they're in nice shape. I've had my eye out for some 90's myself.

Thanks. Yes the price sounded reasonable. I've never seen the ls90s in person but I might not have the space for it.

    I love the cs350 though.

The LS90s aren't exactly huge for floorstanding speakers. In fact I would say they are svelte. Dimensions are 40" H x 12-1/4" W x 14-281/500" D, pulled from Polk's site.

Gotta love that last dimension. Anal engineers...

I have had a CS350LS for years and love it. It has such a wide presence. The only issue I had with it was finding an entertainment center that I could use with it (Settled on a Furnitech model that had a drawer...fit like a glove)

I also have the LSf/x and they are really nice as well. They are great when used in dipole mode to disperse the location. I have some LS50s (the baby brothers of the LS90s) that I no longer use because I replaced them with some RTi150s.

I am going to decommission the LSf/x due to my theater room doubling as a play room. I'm going to switch to Polk in-wall f/x speakers when they are released to lower the risk of speakers being sheered off the wall. :)

$600 seems like a good deal to me.

Thanks guys. I might have to pull the trigger on these. He sounded like he was open to lowering the price and was willing to deliver too. I'll keep you posted and post some images as well.

Thanks for the input guys. $500 for a mint set? I think he rated the condition as very good. But the CS350 has a few pegs missing from the grill. He's sending me more pictures tonight hopefully I can get a better idea.

Yeah, $600 would be an OK price if they were in excellent condition--that would be the most I would pay. But if pegs are broken, then I'd talk him down some. Not sure how pegs get broken other than dropping a speaker, btw, so check it out carefully.

The LS/FX don't really hold their value well. The other two can still fetch a decent penny given a good condition. The most I'd personally be willing to pay for LS90's would be $300, $350 TOPS in like-new condition. Figure about $100-125 for the CS350LS, and that puts you at about $475 for primo condition 90's and the 350. I think $500 is definitely the most I'd go for a package set.

What its worth to me might not translate to what its worth to you though. It might be worth every penny if that is the way you really want to go. To prove that point, I've seen the LS90's fetch more than that price semi-regularly.

Agreed. I'd pay $500+ for a mint pair of 90's if I could find them local.

I LOVE the LS series. I would pay $500 for a mint pair of LS-90s although I paid about half that. The CS-350 is amazing as well, good range and strong as a mid. I would say it is weaker in the high end. The LS90 is only a bit taller than the LS70. Not enough to make a difference. I am running a pair of LS70s, LS90s and a pair of CS350's. Dollar for dollar, I wouldn't sell them for 2x the price I paid for them.

Another LS90 fan here, amazing sounding speakers. Wonderful build quality, good looking all around, and they can dig down pretty deep with the right electronics behind them. Like all good speakers, they only get better as you improve the gear that's driving them.

If a mint pair of 90's popped up local for $500, I would try to purchase them.

I grabbed the speakers from a really cool guy. He was gracious enough to drive them over about 30 miles to my house for $500. They look and sound great. The LS90 (black) are in great condition. I don't think I have the components to really make these shine. But let the journey begin.

Thanks guys for the help. I'll post pics soon.

I've got a pair of LS90's that I LOVE, although I didn't love what they did to my TV...I had to get magnets to change the shape of the magnetic field so they didn't affect my TV's picture. I've also got the CS350 and a pair of LS f/x.

One question...I thought Polk made a bookshelf LS that would voice match this set (I'm running a Yamaha DSP A-1 so I can run 7 channels), but I forget the model number. Can anybody help me out with that info and maybe where I can get a used pair?

*Just as a side story, I once called Polk because I had a piece of crap HK receiver that was causing problems with the drivers on my 7 year old LS 90's...and I actually got Matthew Polk on the phone. Without even knowing for certain whether it was the receiver or the speakers that was the source of the problem, he offered to send me replacement drivers free of charge. (The problem proved to be the receiver) I declined at the time because I didn't want to take advantage of the situation, at least without knowing whether the speakers were the source of the problem... but it made me a Polk fan for life! I wish I'd said yes now as I may be losing two of the drivers, but WOW...great customer service!
