I just got a Denon deck off of Craigs List the guy had quite a few Denons, and a couple of Pioneers. Of the Denons he had the DM-500 and the DR-M11 were in the best of shape I choose the DR-M11 it was built in 1984, and the DM-500 was built in 1991. I read that Denons best years were 1983-1987, they used nakamichi parts and were considered good decks in thier days, does anyone know if those were the best years for Denons? I paid $35 for the DR-M11, it is immaculate capstans look new heads are clean as can be I just demagnatized them and playing a TDK Metal Bias Alan Parsons Vulture Culture this Deck sounds pretty good:cheesygrin: Were these the Glory years for Denon?

At that level of a tape deck I think you made a good decision. The DRM-500 isn't bad but I like the DR-M11 better. The DRM-700A, DRM-710 and DRM-800A from the early 90's are very nice decks. I am very impressed with my 800A.

I have heard the DRM-800 and it does sound good. Nice build quality and an excellent cassette deck. I would say that Denon still made excellent decks into the very early 90's. Probably '91 to '92 would be the cutoff, IMO.

Taken from a recent Audioholics reply regarding "Club Polk" and Polk speakers:
"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion." :\
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

Thanks for the response. I own a lot of tapes mostly TDK Ma 90s and Sa 90s. I have always put new lps on to a good tape to save wear and tear on lps, plus I have a lot of stuff that is hard to find on cassette, I own a Marantz, and a Technics Deck also and this Denon surprised me, I'am glad I picked the DR-M11
