DIY TV Stand for a 65" Plasma

All right, so I just got on the good deal for a Panasonic TCP65GT30 and I am now trying to figure out a stand...
So, here is the criteria.
1. Inexpensive. We will be moving in 7 months and the future house might not have the same area as this one so we could go to a wall mount or something else.
2. Not Wall Mount. We can't with the current HT set-up.
3. Relatively stable. 2+ year-old. Enough Said.
4. Center Channel Mount/shelf. The Center channel is currently on top of the Sony TV the new TV will replace. Obviously this won't work on the Plasma.
I think that is about all.
Initially I thought about getting a wall mount and then making a support system to hook it to a bottom cabinet (very simple) that I can build. I think this is the cheapest and allows me to possibly use the wall mount in the future, but I wonder about #3, it's stability.
Because of that I am leaning towards buying this and making a cabinet to attach it to. The cabinet would be VERY simple and the goal would be that the Center sits right under the TV slightly angled up and a few components could go underneath on a single shelf. I think I could build something like that very inexpensively (Under $100 plus the TV Mount)
Has anyone on here already done something like this? Any premade stuff I should look at instead?

you have tools? buying high grade finished wood is costly. using regular lumber would look tacky even though that would make your budget. buying the high grade stuff and staining it yourself would probably cost closer to $200 and you could get something decent for that much though it wouldn't be wood, or even good particle board. best bet would be to hit up garage sales and craigslist. in 7 months i'm sure you could find something.

Look on craigslist for used entertainment center. Nice finished wood ones can be had for dirt cheap. If your careful, take it apart and reconfigure it to suit your needs.

I made an entertainment center out of cherry for my TV but that takes a long time and the right tools.
One suggestion is to make something very simple out of plywood and cover it with fabric or even a blanket. It will look OK for the short term until you move.Front - Polk LSiM 705, Center - Polk LSiM 704c, Rear - Polk LSi 7

Went to several furniture stores and finally found a "coffee table" that had a lower shelf large enough to hold my cs350 (width was the killer". Then I used some eye hooks and wire to strap my 55" plasma to the wall to stabilize it. Also used a couple of 2x4 to better distribute weight. IIRC paid about $175 for it. Can post a picture latter if you would like.

Upon re-reading your post, I'd suggest concrete (cinder) blocks stacked and 2-by untreated boards as the shelves from Lowes/Home Depot etc. 1 gallon of cheap latex paint would make it look like something respectable and everything can be re-tasked later on after the move.
