Always Looking. Came across a ARAGON 4004 Amplifier. Currently using an old Adcom GFA-7000. Running my RTi A9's. Can anyone give me some details about this amp. Would it be a good fit with my 9's. Would run the 9's with the Aragon and the rest with the Adcom. Any insight would be appriciated.

It will have more oomph and sound better IMHO than the Adcom. That Adcom is no slouch though.
It doubles down into 4ohms so you would be feeding those 9's 400 watts. Nothing to sneeze at there. -
I guess it would depend on cost. Aragon makes nice amps and would probably sound a little better for 2 ch listening than that particular Adcom. But if it's overpriced, not sure it would be worth it.
What other gear are you running? Cables, etc. If using an AVR for a pre-amp you may or may not hear much difference compared to using a really nice 2 ch pre-amp.

Agreed. Aragons are very nice two channel amps. But if you want to get the best sound from it with your 9s, you will need an appropriately matched Pre-amp?
Are you using some kind of AVR as a pre, now?

I currently run thru a HK 354 AVR. When I bought the adcom amp he would only sell the amp with the preamp. I have the pre still. it's a Parasound P/SP-1500 Processor/ Preamplifier. I never hooked the pre up it was in fair to bad condition. He said it worked fine. But it had a couple buttens completely missing he said from the kids. At time I was more interested in the amp. I use 80 % of time as HT and 20 % music. I couldn't figure a good way to hook up the pre and still use the AVR for HT. If anyone knows a good set up for this type of arrangement please let me know the proper way to set up.
My thought was to hook up the main speakers with the 354 avr and the aragon for music and then hook the rest of the surrounds and center up thru the 354 and adcom fro HT. Like I said if I could try hooking up the Parasound pre and still use fro HDMI Sorround HT of the HK354 WOULD be Great!!! it's just I don't know how to accomplish this. Input greatly appreciated. -
Agree with what others said above. I have never heard the 4004, however. I do own the Mondial 8008bb and it is a very powerful and nice sounding amp. Is the 4004 made by Mondial or Klipsch (in other words is it the 4004 or 4004 MKII)? That would make a difference (IMO) for how much it's worth.

Taken from a recent Audioholics reply regarding "Club Polk" and Polk speakers:
"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion."
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

Its the 4004. not the MKII. Asking price is $450.00. not sure if a good price or not. Sounds reasonable. I'm still not sure on how to hook up with and analog preamp and use for stereo music and then use same speakers in a HT 5.1 system. Any help on proper way to do this please enlighten me.

Sorry but i'm new to alot of this and learning. Can the RTi-9s handle 4 omhs? I always here 4 ohms and 8 ohms. I assume their is something on the amp to switch it back and forth from 4 to 8?
Thanks, Dave
