The world contains varied unique groups of people doesn't it? I used to be surprised at what people collect or are interested in but nothing surprises me anymore. It is hard to believe that a person would be discussing such matters as hammers and nails but to them it is important.

I will tell you a funny that is somewhat along the same lines as this. I was looking at purchasing a Bottlehead Quickie which is a preamp kit that runs off of DC batteries. 9 volts and a couple of D cell I believe. Anyways my brother and I were discussing some ways to improve my system such as bass traps, etc.... and we began to joke about different type batteries making a difference in sound with the Quickie. You know like the tube and capacitor discussions. All tongue in cheek. We had a good time with it then moved on to something else. Well lo and behold I log onto the Bottlehead Forum this week and someone started a discussion about how the type of battery you use could affect sound. I forwarded the link to my brother and got a kick out of it.

So nothing surprises me anymore and I never dismiss the interest of others either. I know that is not what you are doing but I am just saying. With some of the hobbies I have had in the past anything I said would be calling the kettle black! I used to shoot high power rifle competitions and if you think the audiophile community is anal you have not seen anything!

Good post Kenneth and an entertaining site!

I love the Beatles reference that they snuck in! And yes, it reminds me of this place, including myself on occasion.

Most of the guys I know who love their Hammers speak English fine, drive pick-ups and are self-employed? Besides, I thought all of you "Tool Time" guys "loved" your tools, slept with them, and always had a few in your car or truck?

There are so many DIY guys on this site that I often feel like I'm back in 9th grade shop class (I didn't much care for shop, but we did screw around in there a lot-as a consequence, we never finished any project and were left in the "dust" by many of you as we moved on to very different careers and jobs where tools are "never" seen unless you mean a laptop, books, pens, and the Web, lol).

But, given the "alternate" meaning here, for CP. Perhaps we should have a section called "Hammer of God Talk"?

I read this a week or so ago. The author is a regular on a Canon photography forum I visit. His bit of "satire" is all about the new Nikon D4 and D800 and the new Canon 1DX and 5DIII that are now out. The banter about what are arguably the best DSLRs ever made is comical. What they do vs what one thinks they should or should not do. The hundreds of posts threads arguing about the capability of one vs another when NEITHER had been released were classic Internet forum nonsense...but none-the-less entertaining and frustrating at the same time.

And yes...he did hit the nail on the head!

My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

Jose Freakin' Christmas, that was funny and yes, that did remind me of some "other" forums I visit.

If you haven't clicked on that link, please do so. Kind of a "deja vu all over again" feeling.

Hammeruser: Here?s a picture of some framing I did with the hammer yesterday in about 2 hours. I really think it?s going to make me more productive.

    framing.jpg

Hammertime: I blew up those pictures 200%, ran them through Photoshop and measured the arctan radius of the depth of the nailheads. It?s obvious that you were torquing the hammer from right to left when using it, which makes all of the framing you did inconsequenctial and of no use to anyone. A better hammer doesn?t make up for poor technique.
