Do you listen to your turn table with the dust guard open or closed?

Mine is not hinged but sits over entire TT, so off when I am listening.
When I did have a hinged TT I had to leave it open as my clamp was to tall to close while playing.Speakers: SDA-1C (most all the goodies)

The Marantz/CA doesn't have one (I keep a cloth over it when not in use).
For the ol' Technics - I take the dust cover off when playing records. In the wintertime in New England, static electricity can levitate the tonearm right off the disk and attact it to the dustcover when it is closed.

I never play my TT with the dust cover up or on, seems to me it's a good catch for vibrations when being played with it up or on..

Funny about the cat. There is a guy on E-BAY who insists on using his cat as a prop crawling around the gear he sells mostly speakers. now we all know most people advertise from a kid free, smoke free, and pet free home.So why in the world would you have a cat crawl all over the stuff you are trying to deal.I did try to ask him that but got no response. I still think it's rediculous and is not the thing to do. In the fullness of time they'll be ensconced in a kitteh-off-limits room... when they are thus protected, I'll be putting new grille cloth on them. That should be an adventure...

When the ladies are topless who cares whether the tt is topless or closed.
Otherwise I set the tt cover aside while spinning, but then put it back on when I power off. I'm afraid someone will nudge the tt while fiddling with the top and potentially scratch the record.Polk Audio SDA CRS+ crossover 4.1TL by Trey/VR3 (Rings and custom stand by Larry)-Polk Audio SDA SRS2 crossovers by Trey/VR3Parasound HCA1500aYamaha rxa-3070 with musicast-Celestion SL6S presence,- sl9 surround backNHTsuper1's surroundMagnepan SMGParasound 1500pre- Sofia "Baby" tube amp - Monitor Audio Silver RX2 Marantz 2230/B&Kst140Technics 1200mk2 Gamertag: IslandBerserker I am but a infinitesimally small point meeting the line of infinity in the SDA universe
