Found these and was wondering what SDA2's these are?
Would these be any better than the RTA11TL's I have?
Is $275 a good price?
Thanks

SDA 2B's

I believe those are SDA-2B's
Are they worth 275 bucks? They would be to me! -
I'll 2nd that. Go buy them!2 Channel - Polk SDA-2BTL, Carver TFM-35, Peachtree iDAC, Qobuz streamed via Episode Lynk using bubble UPnP server

Run! Take it from a guy who just missed a sweet deal on a Carver amp by a few hours.

Better than my RTA11TL with crossover upgrades and RDO tweeters?
Will I have to mod them to be better?
They just look so.....plain.Mike

Sal is right, of course. But everything degrades with time, including one's ears so that by the time you reach retirement age you probably won't be "able" to hear that hump up top that the silver domes put out. And you won't be able to pick out as much detail, I suspect.
Time knows "no mercy"! lol
I'm still trying to figure out how "one recaps their ears"?
Enjoy, 2Bs and some tubes! What can I say?

It would not be a "sin" to try to get them for less $$$ (leaves more for upgrades)

Good Price and better than the RTA11TL. -

SDA's are special. I had a pair of RTA 11T's for a long time and now that I have SDA 1C's, no way would I ever go back to the RTA11's. Nice speakers, but not SDA's.

Here's a weird request.I do not know any of you and have never owned a Polk Product. What I am proposing is that I would love to hear what all the fuss about the SDA -SDA and LSi sets of speakers. You guys know what I have and it's what I can afford and quite happy with my gear at this time. My curiosity is getting to me so if anyone in central Jersey wants an audio stranger to their house to hear these vaunted speakers let me know. I would never ever put something down I've never heard so I'm really curious. The bonding wire thing gets me because I'm sure that has to be a draw back in some houses/applications.If there is a set up in a store that would work also....2chl- Adcom GFA- 555-Onkyo P-3150v pre/amp- JVC-QL-A200 tt- Denon 1940 ci cdp- Adcom GFS-6 -Modded '87 SDA 2Bs - Dynamat Ext.- BH-5- X-Overs VR-3, RDO-194 tweeters, Larry's Rings, Speakon/Neutrik I/C- Cherry stain tops Advent Maestros,Ohm model E

I think you're good. You might even like the SL tweeters? A number of Polkies live in Jersey! Quite a few in fact. I can think of at least three or four that have some SDAs (probably a lot more)
I run some 2Bs but am over 500 miles north of you so can't offer you a Demo unless you're on a Lobster vacation? lol
If you can listen to SDAs on a nice tube amp that would be something. If not, find a "warmer" sounding amp and pre-amp in the 200 watt range per channel. An Adcom 555 may be a bit too revealing for that silver dome tweeter depending on what pre-amp you're using with it?
I'd think Parasound or something similar in Solid State amps.
In any case. Retirement and SDAs? What could be better?
Enjoy!

The guy that has these dosen't have the inter-connect cable. When I asked about it, he didn't even know that there was suppose to be one. He had bought them used years ago and didn't get one. He's been playing them without it for years. Can that hurt the speakers? If not, where can I get a cable?Mike

Yes you can get one. Some members here sell from time to time or you can make your own. Shouldn't hurt the speakers. If he had them w/ cable, he'd prob not be selling them now. Negotiate price down since you will have to acquire a cable later. Search the forum or wait for the experts to help you with making your own.2-ch System: Parasound P/LD 2000 pre, Parasound HCA-1000 amp, Parasound T/DQ Tuner, Phase Technology PC-100 Tower speakers, Technics SL-1600 Turntable, Denon 2910 SACD/CD player, Peachtree DAC iT and X1asynchorus USB converter, HSU VTF-3 subwoofer.

Nice deal! I'm new owner of Monitor 11's and having a blast!

mhanbone..i have question. do you plan on hooking the sda2 to the HK reciever. why i ask is i love HK products. i have 3 recievers now. i have a hk3470....dpr1001....avr45 i love them all. ive also got a denon poa2200 amp....ive been hard press which one to get rid of. i see you use a dpr....just wonder what it is,why you use a dpr also......
-
i also have the same sda2. i paid 300.00 with cord. im totally happy with these. they are sweet when hooked to the amp...
-

$150 is def a steal. those appear to be in nice shape. And the 2b's are among the best in the SDA/SRS lineup.
Congrats!!!design is where science and art break even. -

No, the HK receiver I have, has issues and is only 70w. I read these speakers require more power so I'm buying a Pioneer SC-05 from one of my Cousins. I will add an amp later if I think it needs it.Mike

very nice. i was using the hk avr 45 with the denon poa2200....i got a 3470 and it seems to work great with 100 watt reciever. i also hook direct from cd player to amp then to speakers and its unbelievable. the sad2b's sound clear crisp and boy do they love power. the denon has volume knobs on them. i use them to adjust volume directly. no reciever. i was going to go with adcom. which ive heard is great amp. but i picked up the poa for 200.00....my next project is a tube amp. thank you for your responce..im ditching the dpr1001 maybe. i put it up for sale for 100.00 in mint condition and no takers yet. i saw yours at 70 watts. that must sound sweet. the 50 watt 1001 sounds sweet on paradigms...
-
i cannot justify selling the HK dpr1001 for under 100.00 in mint condition....may become a bedroom set up or garage set up....
-
Got the SDA-2b's home, they're a little bigger (and Heavier) than i thought. Not sure if I'll put them in the house till after I do the mods. Thanks for talking me into these.Mike

Will the Pioneer SC-05 be able to power the SDA2b's? I was looking at the specs on the SC and it doesn't show that it is 4 ohm capable? Should I be looking for an amp that is 4 ohm capable? This hobby is starting to get out of hand (not too bad though). In the last year I've bought more audio equipment than I have in the last 20 years. Next thing you know it will be as bad as my motorcycle habit. I have 11 of those right now. Back to the SC, Whatcha think?Mike
