Cross-over upgraded LSi9's for home theater

I love the LSi?s for music, but have always felt they were lacking for home theater. I?m building out a dedicated home theater and am wanting a sound system that is more geared for HT (ie wide 3 dimensional sound-stage, with a lot of sparkle). The LSi?s have always sounded a little too laid back for high energy HT for me.

At any rate, for those who have had their LSi?s modded, do they sound significantly better for HT?

I?ve been demoing a lot of speakers lately, but haven?t ruled out going this route either.

Check out the RTiA series speakers which are HT first if you decide to go a different speaker route.

Gear makes a difference. If you could try a yamaha avr, that might liven things up a little.

But ultimately, due to the aspects of your room and personal taste, lsi's might just not be a good fit. And that's ok. I definitely think you should look at different speakers instead of modding the ones you have.

Thanks for the input. I've spent a lot of time auditioning speakers over the past week.

I'm considering the RTiA9's if I decide to go full-range for my fronts, but am leaning more towards a higher quality bookshelf (paradigm studio 20's on my short list, along with the Monitor Audio GX50).

I like the LSi9's a lot for music, but they're missing a little something for HT. If the soundstage on these things could open up a bit, I'd be happy.

While you'll probably like both, the former might impress you a bit more than the latter. I would say if money is tight, look for studio 20s v3 used. They can be had used $300-$400 a pair and would be awesome for what you're trying to do.

    EQ didn't help?

I have to turn my EQ off every time I run the auto calibration because it makes things too bright..
