Boxing up the Super Towers tonight and they will be gone...

I remember about 5 years ago I lusted for the Super Towers - thinking there was simply no way I would ever be able to own such a beast... 2 years later I did and 3 years after they are now gone...

Amazing how priorities change!

On the flip side - I truly wont miss them in the end as I seriously never really sit down to listen anymore...

But what a journey! Don't forget why we do this gents, its about the music - without the music does not matter what the heck you have.

I'm sorry for your speaker loss.

It sucks when you sell gear but sometimes I feel bad if I'm not using it to its full potential. Life sometimes gets in the way and you can always come back later down the road.

That is sad. I can't imagine life without some "listening" time. But since my profession requires a lot of reading and writing there is time enough for background music and always a little time in the evening (a few times a week) for more serious listening.

Without music, life would be "unlivable".

Yeah - the other thing is the last few years my listening habits went more electronica/dubstep - which truth be told is not a critical listening genre...

Super Towers sold for what I thought they would so all is well there.

    Appreciate the well wishes...

I believe my next speaker is going to be a monitor with a built in powered subwoofer - yup yup

Sad day indeed but it leaves room for a new adventure. Let us know what that adventure might be when it comes up!

Monitors are in my future with this hobby for sure.

I haven't looked back for a millisecond, after going the monitor route. I'll take the imaging/soundstaging any day...

I feel your pain,VR3.......20 yrs ago after cancer and divorce,I had to sell my complete system to a hi-fi store in Philadelphia.......7 Linn speakers,All Carver amps,Def Tech sub,Yamaha DSP-01.....A $1900 Pioneer Elite DVD player......I kept all the original boxes and manuals and shipped them via UPS...I literally cried for days....The only thing I kept was my Proton Tv.......In 20 years,I never got back to that level, again:sad:

Time to get a pair of Cerwin Vegas .

Well, you are going to start a fresh system. So you have that to look forward to. It should keep your mind off the Supers incase you begin to miss them.

Good luck on your next path in audio, Sid.

After much debating, I think I am sold on trying to find a set of Def Tech Power Monitor 900

6.5" mid, 1" tweet, 10" powered sub with a 250 watt amplifier, should be flat to about 35hz or so...

Shall see - right now I am pretty much 99% there.

I have always been intrigued by the Powermonitor 900 --

It is such a cool idea that more companies should do...

The fact you can get a full range (35hz to 20khz) speaker in such a small form factor is just awesome...

It intrigues me to no end... let the search start!

At least you never sold them to buy ladyboys and crack. If you like that heavy music then try out some subfocus << its the name of a group not a speaker. There is a track called rock it that is just hardcore and the wife wont let me crank it

I might be blind. I just went to Def Tech's site and they don't have the power monitors. Wanted to see how they look. Can you provide a link?
Why go for powered mains when you have the Parasound amp?

    Just the subwoofer is powered...

The Powermonitor 900 is probably.... 10-15 years old - however they still fetch 900-1000 used in good condition after all these years. Great speakers.

    I have heard the BP20.

I actually really like the BP line - particularly the BP10B and I am sure the BP30 is fantastic. I will warn that speaker would need a hell of an amp.

Now you can get those BOSE you've been lusting after. Not those big pesky 901's or the like, get some of them advanced little cubes and a real Bose Sub. We're so proud.

The DIY kit is definitely interesting - I would have to come to terms with the whole white thing lol
