Hello Friends.
I have the system in my sig, and I think it is time to go to 7.1 with all the great 7.1 movie tracks out there these days.
I am thinking of adding the RTi A3 as the backs, and running my FXi A6s as the sides, set in dipole mode. I am basing this off of what THX pictures;

Anyone else running something similar? Should I just run FXi A6s all around?
Right now, I have the FXi A6s behind my seating area running in bi-pole mode.
Thanks for your time!
Justin

Both will work fine. How far is your seating from the back wall?

Currently about 6 feet. I am moving in June and it will be about a foot.Fronts: Polk RTi A9's

At only a foot from the wall I would go with the angled fxia6's so it'll be pointed at the listener versus the RTI a3 are 14 inches deep and might be pointed forward past your ear.

I'm using FXi30 dipoles on the sides and RTi28 rears... and my seating is about 14" from the back wall. However, I'm also using brackets to angle the RTi28s down toward my listening position and I have them hung upside down to put the tweeter closer to the wall when they're angled. It blends pretty well, despite all the advice you'll probably get not to go 7.1 with the seating that close to the back wall. Even with them that close, I can play phase tests across the rear surrounds and still get excellent between-speaker imaging, so I'm happy with it.
P.S. - Go with the Dolby TrueHD/DTS-MA placement shown on that page you linked to, not the THX way.Equipment list:
