efficiency of the speakers I now have

Hello, Since recovering from my knee surgery I have completed the task of refoaming my garage sale Bose 601s.The actual job of refoaming all 4 8in woofers was very easy and maybe something alot more of you should consider doing depending if your boxes are worth it.After letting them dry I hooked them up to zone 2 of my Yamaha RX-V665 avr and what was surprising to me was I had to crank the vol up passed the+ side which w/ my Klipsch's on zn I could never do. W/ zone 1 I get to about -4 and then it will clipp, shut down then come back.Because of my injury I cannot determine if it's the difference w/ the zones or the speakers themselves.I still have not reached a verdict on whether the Infinity SM112s on 2 chll are better than the Bose.I do have some optoins here were I can switch up w/ the Bose/Infinity as my 2chl or continue to use just the Bose as zone 2 w/ the dock and other peririfials.I still think I made the right choice of picking these speakers up for $20 and the kit for $30 and some time which we invest w/ our systems anyway.Stick your nose up if you want but I have 2 restored Bose601s working the house right now.

It isn't a matter of efficiency it is a matter of Ohm Rating. I don't remember which Klipsch setup you own but it is probably rated at 4ohms and the I know the Bose are rated at 8ohms. So the load your amplifier sees is much more stable going to the Bose over the Klipsch.
By the way, cranking the volume until the amp shuts down is bad for both the amp and the speakers. You are clipping them both and it is not good. You may not hear it but sooner or later the amp will blowup or your tweeters are gonna fry. -
Thanks for the warning.I really do not crank them any more ,that was just airing out the system a few times and not even close to normal listening levels. The Klipsch set is the H/D 500 smalls w/ 8in pwrd sub and I think they are rated at 8 ohms also.2chl- Adcom GFA- 555-Onkyo P-3150v pre/amp- JVC-QL-A200 tt- Denon 1940 ci cdp- Adcom GFS-6 -Modded '87 SDA 2Bs - Dynamat Ext.- BH-5- X-Overs VR-3, RDO-194 tweeters, Larry's Rings, Speakon/Neutrik I/C- Cherry stain tops Advent Maestros,Ohm model E

LW you need to update your sig! Nice DIY there. Most people bash Bose because of there rep, but for the money, you've got a fine speaker. Congrats and enjoy.

After playing the speakers for some time now I think quite possibly it was a burn in issue .Now I do not to go to + side of the vol control for any of the speakers and I swear for thew first few times of listening I did have to turn them up to volumes I've never seen but that seems to be in the past.I don't know if the surrounds have anything to do w/ burn in or just the diaphram and driver, but in any event all speakers out of the Yamaha are on the - scale. For general info I'm using 14gu clear for about 10-12 feet to each speaker.Oh yeah thanks CC I also thought I did well w/ the grab.2chl- Adcom GFA- 555-Onkyo P-3150v pre/amp- JVC-QL-A200 tt- Denon 1940 ci cdp- Adcom GFS-6 -Modded '87 SDA 2Bs - Dynamat Ext.- BH-5- X-Overs VR-3, RDO-194 tweeters, Larry's Rings, Speakon/Neutrik I/C- Cherry stain tops Advent Maestros,Ohm model E
