RTi8 or RTi70

Compare to RTi70, what do you think about new RTi8?
I compared them in Fry's, RTi8 has more detail at high
frequency range, also, it's a little bit louder.

I tried to find some review about new RTi on line, so far
no luck.

In the same price range as RTi70, what other speak I should
also consider? I would say 70% usage for music, 30% for
movie.

    Depends on what price you can get them for. Not too many people are have luck getting them a discounts at circuit city but some people got them at Fry's for 300-350 if I remember correctly. Personally, I like the look of the old lline better. The Rti8's look too "new age" for my taste. If there is a $500-600 price difference, I don't think I could justify getting the 8's. I think they are pretty much the same basic speaker but I could be wrong. You could put that money into another amp or DVD or wiring. Just my $.02. Good luck! Welcome to the forum!

    If money is not an issue, then stick with the speaker that sounded the best to you. Isn't that why we're all here to begin with.

    That being said, if money is the issue, save your nickels and dimes until you can afford the speakers you want. Don't force yourself to settle for something that you may regret later.

    I know money wise I should go for Rti70 now. But as you all
    know, once you are exposed to something better(after heard
    RTi8), you alway feel something not right with RTi70. I
    shouldn't try RTi8 in the first place, I think. I bet I will be in even
    bigger trouble if I listened to LSi ones :p

    Is that true people buy a pair of RTi70 $300 at Frys?

    I saw open box Rti70 for 99/each @local CC and brand new for 179/each @ Fry's.
    Why not buy Rti70 for the price & look and replace the tweeter with Vifa part for better sound stage?
    It may be cheaper than new Rti8 and you go deeper for the bass.

    Be careful with A/B comparisons of speakers. Alot of times the very speaker that "caught your attention" is also the one that ends up being very fatiguing once you get it home.

    Steve is right, if a speaker sounds super detailed or attention demanding in the store it might be overly bright at home. Go for smooth, but keep in mind the placement. If at all possible, unhook and rehook the A/B comparison in the same position. It may piss the employee off but they're there to serve you..correct?

    After a few weeks of monitoring Frys, CC and ebay for rti70s I elected to buy rti8s from Crutchfield.

    After much config. experimentation I'm really starting to hear what these speakers are capable of. First let me say you absolutely will want a sub to fill out the sound stage and get the warmth you're after.

    I had a buddy who has a complete NHT speaker setup come over last night and we listened to some SACDs, including an Audioquest reference recording of Mighty Sam McClain. The clarity and separation was absolutely stunning. If someone told me that kind of sound was coming out of $700 speakers I would be very skepitcal. Of course having decent source components makes a world of difference as well. I've only had my Denon 2200 for a few days and I'm already kicking myself for not buying a higher level player years ago...

    Bottom line, Rti8s are capable of sounding incredibly rich with proper care and feeding.

    I would go with the RTi8's if price is not a factor. I've been pretty impressed with the new line so far. They are a little bright out of the box, but it will smooth out a bit with some break-in. With the right amp, cables, and placement, they can be stunningly good.
