Hello All,
I was wondering, for the RT2000p's, would the CS400i or the Csi40 be better? I think the CS400i has matching timbre, but I've heard some people using the Csi40. I'm starting to think the CS1000p is out of the question due to cost :( (what's the lowest you guys normally see it go for?) But yeah, the original question, for the RT2000p's, cs400i or csi40? Also, found a set of Rti100's... I'm building a surround sound for my parents, and these are sunfaded... for $200... I like the idea of these much more than Rti70s, but are they easily stainable back to original color or? are they THAT much better than the 70s? Also, are the Rti100's any better than the RT2000p's? Mostly home theater, some dubstep techno (lots'a lows) Thanks for all the support guys!

That's right. The 400i will be a better match. Depending on condition, I think they usually go for $100-250(if in very good to mint cond). Even though the i version is one generation ahead of your non i, they are still close enough. It was only a minor change to the tweets and woofers from what I remember.
The CSi40 should match them as well but you'll hear the difference with the new silk tweeters. Not that noticable however. I used to have a CSi40/RT800i set up. Personally, I would go for the 400. The CSi40's look doesn't really match the older RT towers and the 40 is just ugly. The finish was horrible. It looks like the cabinet is covered in scratches. Also the tri-lam tweeters in the older models are much better than the silks that replaced them imho.

You have a great system going with the 2000 and 1000. I have a pair of 1000's and love them.

Organ, thanks for your opinion and backings for it. I always appreciate someone who, not only gives their opinion, but explains why :) And also thanks for the compliment on the setup... I'm dying to get ahold of a set of RT3000p's but it seems no one in the entire dang state has a pair they want to part with... seems I may have to drive up to my homestate (IL) to visit family, and pick them up on the way LOL... and as for a CS1000p, that's down the road... they seem very expensive... what's the avg going price you've seen those for? I'll end up getting the 400i to get me by, but would like to get a CS1000p eventually... have a person who wants to sell me one for $600, but that seems a lil steep, and as for the moment, I'm broke from buyin a set of klipsch subs.

I'll find another... only problem is that I'm sinking a lot of money into the surround sound I'm building for the parents

Bleh, it IS still for sale, my bad... but yeah, tony, if you read two of my other threads, you'll see that I AM sinking a lot of money into it, AND plan to sink MORE into it lol :P What you just stated was thoroughly stated in my other threads :) so I agree. I'm also building my own surround sound up at the same time.

Yeah, $600 for the CS1000p is quite high, but I really think there are people willing to pay that price because it's quite rare now and it's one hell of a center speaker.
LOL, I also plan to bag a pair of 3000's if I come across a pair. Try posting on the WTB forum. You never know, somebody close to you might have a pair for sale.
That RT system for sale is a steal at $350. The 600 are very good. I once set up a pair for my friend. I didn't spend too much time listening afterwards but from what I remember, at the time, I thought they sounded better than my 800's lol.
You seem to be a big fan of the older RT series. Keep your eyes open for a pair of used SRT and you're done.

Holy mother of God... I just checked out Polk's page on the SRT system.... :O'' WOW... is the main image of a multi-tiered set of Fronts? or? You ever see those for sale on the forums? If so, how much they go for used?

Ha ha:cheesygrin: They're so cool. Very rare now but they do come up for sale sometimes. I've been on the lookout for many years now. I think the last pair I saw used went for $2300 for a pair of SRT towers.
They use Polk's SDA technology. You should read about it, There is a special way they cancel cross talk and I think you can run them straight without the SDA effect.
