Thanks for the encouragement there. I have seen one incomplete set on flea bay recently. Could not stomach the price with half of it missing.

Just for reference though, what is considered a good price for complete set-up in hopefully good condition?

Doesn't the width channels on the newer higher end receivers work just like the SRT's width effect?

...starting bid is $1750 w/no bids and 4 days left. Description states previously owned by Scott Stapp (lead singer of Creed) and the rear speakers are missing. Seller is located in VT and appears they offer free shipping.

I heard one once, I was told it was not set up properly and that's why it didn't sound that great. So I heard one set that wasn't that impressive.

I've heard the SRT system more than once Sal, it is extremely impressive.

The older FX something or another mates well.

Have you ever heard a set?

    That's a good one, sal.

That set you heard was not set up properly nor did it have proper amplification. The room they where set up in was too small also.

The center used in that set is the cs1000 which is not the SRT center. That set is basically a stereo set.
The fx1000 or fx/ls can be used as rear. I would worry about getting the srt center over any of the compatible rear dipole/bipole speakers.

After posting the link I seriously contemplated picking this up if it remained @$1,700. You confirmed what I thought re. the rear speakers but I didn't realize the center is not SRT. I'd rather wait and hope to find a complete set someday. Thanks for saving me major disappointment if I'd gone through with it.

Parts are near impossible for my rt3000p, I'd hate to think about needing to replace something on those SRTs.

The ones on ebay have been posted 4 times now. They started out over $3k and were listed as the complete 5.1 system. I sent an email letting him know that it's only a 3 channel system he's selling and that the "matched center" is not at all correct. He's still calling it a matched center. The CS1000p that is being offered is a much different voicing and would not be appropriate.

And the fact that Scott Stapp owned them would only make me want to pay far less.

I would bet the SRT width effect has something to do with the SDA effect. The receiver width adjustment has to do with blending the center channel into the side speakers.

referring to an 11.2 setup which has height and width channels.

That package is still worth the asking price if it stayed at the starting bid with local pick up..
