Now that I have ordered all of the parts to refurnish the Wharfedale W-35's I have turned to the my Monitor 10B's.
The crossovers are dated 29 April, 1988. I have the schematics that are posted here for the Monitor 10 none of them are a 100% match. Where this component located on the board, that I can't identify this hasn't happened to me in many, many years. seems to in the schematic as a fuse, it isn't, or some kind of breaker, it isn't that either. I will of course change the part out but I need to know what it is. The only marking on it is MCI 500. I tried to look it up and unfortunately all there is are entries about the MCI-500 mixing board. A search of Mousers, and Allied Electronic didn't reveal anything either, either one should have this part if I just knew exactly what it is. See the crappy photo below, sorry for the eye strain My iPod Touch 4G has a rotten camera. The part in question is the small blue squarish standing up from the board.

Likely a polyswitch -- tweeter protector.

You should be able to find your schematic here -- oh wait, you said you tried that...:

And I put MCI-500 in this forum's search engine. The other thread says by pass It, is that a good idea. This speaker does not play properly It has very little volume and what there is sounds like a badly tuned AM radio station. Thank you I can see why I was stumped I have not run across this part before.Radio Station W7ITC

Now that I know what the part is It is called Safetyguard (RDE050A). I twisted the wires together and the tweeter came to life. The two 6.5 inch drivers are not playing at all. I am going to get the audio signal generator and inject a tone directly into the 6.5 speakers to check them out, I don't think there is a problem with them.Radio Station W7ITC

The audio signal generator confirmed the 6.5 " drivers are fine. Rebuilding the XO's will fix it The Polks will live again
