So yesterday I went to best buy ( I know) to get a movie and walked by their htibs and saw something interesting. Two of samsungs htibs has tubes in them. They have a little window in the front and top to see them but no access in o:sad:rder to tube roll.

It may be just for show and not actually hooked up, as in the signal path. Lot's of show and no go.

That's really interesting, quality aside! It's also interesting where it is coming from? Samsung?

What I did notice in my time in China and some in Japan and Taiwan, was that there are a lot of burgeoning audiophiles in East Asia with extra cash to burn. And a wide variety of home grown tube industries. There is "certainly" an Asian market for this. Asian favorites: Marantz (high end), B&W speakers, Dynaudio, (and even some Polk LSi-here and there). These are the brands you see almost everywhere and then there are the really High End shops which are quite rare and difficult to track down if you're not a native and are not running with the Chinese entrepreneurs (which "I" obviously was not).

Anything that improves audio even slightly is "welcome" in my book.

But our man in the "field" at this point would be Sherardp? What's happening, now?

Looks like in the end everything comes full circle. Vinyl is a fast growing audio medium and now a mass producer of audio/visual offering tube gear to the masses. I like it. Way to go Samsung.

I was mostly amazed it was Samsung that was doing this. I did find it interesting that if I put my hand on the unit where the tubes sat it buzzed thru the speakers lol.

I also couldn't find what kind of tube is in it. It wasn't a 6922 as it was shorter and fatter than one. Just found it very interesting.

I think its great that samsung has put tubes in the htib

I am sure there are many like myself who never even heard of tubes or what they are for. I remember when I joined the forum and heard about a tube integrated and saw a pic and thought ... What the F*** is that. I thought it was some kinda scfi new tech lol. HTIB setups are horrible but thats what I started with and thought they were great

With this samsung htib many other mainstream manufacturers may follow suit and it could be an introduction for new consumers into the world of tubes
