Have any of you seen this show? ( What would you Do )

I was watching it tonight and they showed a situation where a woman was yelling at her kids and then left
them on the curb and told them to walk home. There was a few people that stepped in and told her how wrong
it was and some even called the Police. This made me remember an event that I walked into years back.

It went something like this: The wife and I along a few of my other family members decided to take a trip to
a wine tasting event up towards Bloomington, In. a few years back. Well on the way there we decided to stop
and grab a bite to eat, what went on in the parking lot of that restaurant I will never forget!

There was this man and woman with there three kids standing by their car when we drove past to find a place
park. On are way past my sister said " MAN THAT GUY IS GIVING THAT GIRL HELL ", I thought she ment the
woman but my sister said NO THE LITTLE GIRL!!. We parked our van and started to walk into restaurant and
that is when it got really bad. I see this little girl take off running with this man right behind her yelling, he then
grabbed this little girl by the NECK in a choke type hold and slam her up against his car long enough to open
the door to toss her in.

By this time I said OH HELL NO THIS IS NOT HAPPENING !!!!! I ran back out that door and headed his way,
At this point he is leaning into the car and just beating the S#!T out his kid closed fist!!!! He was in total rage!

I yelled at him to stop and he then turned and to me it was none of my business what he was doing and that
if I wanted to make it my business we should go around back. I said a few more choice words and then my
brother came out and stopped me from going toe to toe with this guy.

I am 6' 1 " at 210 lbs, not a real big guy but this thug had 30 - 40 lbs on me and was built like brick house
and like I said in total rage! This Police were called but he left before they got there. I called several times to
check if anything was done to this man but they would noy give me any info.

I think back and wish I would have taken some lumps for that poor little girl and I like to think that just
for a few moments in time I stopped her hurt.

What would have yo done?

I would not be able to stand and watch that's for sure. I would have gotten into it even though I would have probably taken a beating since I am not a big guy. I would hope that I have enough adrenaline to to beat the crap out of him though.

Reminds me of a situation I was in many years ago standing in line at a fast food restaurant. Big french speaking guy starts badmouthing a little girl because she was speaking english. I told him to leave her alone....next thing I knew the guy sucker punched me on the side of the head....that's when I lost it and went completely nuts on the guy right there in the restaurant. He pulled a big chunk of hair out of my head (those were the days when I actually HAD hair) and I never even felt it. Beat his **** to the ground and starting kicking him before people pulled me off him. They couldn't believe a little guy took down a big bully!

I would have gone in and battled it out. Sounds like a classic case of abuse there. Also for the record, not all big guys can throw down. Some of them are just tall, a good size, but have a glass jaw. Next time duke it out, you may surprise yourself.

I would have gotten involved as well, but probably looked around for some backup. With my luck the asshat would have had a gun.

Sadly today, I think it would be just about 50/50 that some **** would have been more concerned about the quality of his Youtube video that the safety of the little girl.

I did get tag number and even make, color and year of car, I even called the child protection service to give info to them.

I carry a 40 S&W but didn't have it that day. I wanted to but my bro stopped me, not sure if he didn't have a gun.

Always something to consider. Actually, I've had experiences like this and I'm about the same size as the guy in the story above except generally less than 200 unless I've been eating too much pizza (my personal best 221-Not proud of that!).

I was living in NYC and out with my girlfriend when we came across a couple having an argument. The dude was on the verge of roughing up his girlfriend when mine "elbowed" me. I had been cautiously watching for the kinds of things John is worried about above. Finally, I walked over there and looking at her, I asked with my back to him but aware of where he was, "are you OK, would you like us to walk you home, now?" The response, was very similar to the one above. "This is none of your business, etc." But we just stayed there until, fortunately, things calmed down. And the two went their separate ways.

Dealing with **** like that in NYC, not the "wisest" thing. I don't recommend it for most people.

I was also on a subway one night where some "crazy" came on to the car and wrapped his scarf around the center pole then started babbling incoherently at two African-American women in a threatening manner (he was white). Soon he took out something that looked like a Bowie knife and started to cut the scarf that he had stretched around the pole in half. Things got tense. And we were probably going to have something come down. Just then, the car came to a stop and the Subway police rushed in and had this guy on the ground and handcuffed in no time.....wheeeew! Who says New York's finest is never there!

One more. When I was working for the NYC Board of Ed to help get myself through grad school as a consultant, I was on the train to review a H.S. program in the infamous Bedford-Stuyvesant area of Brooklyn, on a train where I was one of the only white guys (20 something). Well, at one of the stops a black gang rolled onto the train and proceeded to attack a young African-American H.S. student who was sitting near the door. "What would you do?"...there was NO TV show back then, and there wasn't much time to think things through. They knocked the kid to the ground and stepped back because they were all going to play soccer with his body. Well, boys, I'm NO hero, but as a human being I knew he could be seriously hurt NOW. So almost without being able to control my "own" body. I flew up--while they were backing up--to get a bead on him, and I straddled the young man's body and put out both hands to keep anyone back. At that very moment several older black men all got up and came over to help "me", shouting "let's get this brother off the ground!" The gang members dispersed!

I went on to the H.S. I was supposed to review and there were a couple of cops there. So I reported the incident, but the only thing they wanted to "know" was, were there any weapons? To which I said, "I didn't see any." and that was that!

Again. I don't recommend this as an example of what to do, because I could've wound up in the hospital or dead myself. But, you never know.
