I have mentioned Lifescapes a number of times on many threads. Most if not all the recordings are DDD and from 24bit masters. I discovered these years ago at a local Target store, bought a few, and was hooked. Here's a link:

Check'em out, the recordings are very good. I use some of them as reference "show off" music. Some of my favorites are:

Smooth Jazz
Relaxing jazz
Mexico
Imagine Santa Fe (native American type music)

They're especially nice as dinner background music, etc. Also check your local Target, usually by the greeting cards section.

That's one of my favorites---that old upright string bass is wicked huh? These recordings are really quite good. You'd love "Smooth Jazz" as well.

Yea the tone and texture of the bass is pretty outstanding, as is the clarity and separation of the instruments. I was thinkIng of getting one of the jazz ones next...
