I only took pictures of one of them, but the other is virtually identical.

Cost close to $50 total for the both of them. I already had the MDF for the base and the baseplate.
List of materials. All figures are rounded.

3" PVC pipe - $13
Arrowheads for floor spikes - $4
Dowel Rods - $8
Steel threaded rod, nuts and bolts, etc - $8
Spray Paint - $4
Two bags of 50 lb sand - $8

I already had the paint and everything, except for the spray paint, so I used flat black enamel for the MDF boards, then covered them over with another coat of flat black spray paint for a smoother effect. The PVC was spray painted by hand, and I stained the dowel rods with a red mahogany wood stain. All the corners and edges on the MDF are routed, so as to give it a smoother look.

The top of the stand is just about 37" off the ground. I cut the PVC and the dowel rods to 34.5". The 3/4" MDF on both ends, and the extra height of the floor spikes raise it up to about 37".

The bottom of the stand is a 12"x12" MDF piece, and the top is a 12"x7", to fit the bottom of the speakers.

The PVC pipe has a 3/8" threaded rod running through both plates of the stand, so as to clamp the bottom and the top plates onto it. Simple screws through a pre-drilled hole in the dowel rod attach it. I filled the pvc pipe with sand after attaching it, which brought the weight of the stands to about 25 lbs apiece, quite substantial. I wish I could say they are totally rock solid, but there is just a little flex in them. But they will DEFINITELY do for what I am going to use them for, and they're much better than what I could have bought for that price.

I used rubber feet on the very top plate for resting the speaker on, and it seems to hold it quite steady. You can ignore that little piece of wood, it's only temporary.

All in all, it took about 5-6 hours of work, what with waiting for the paints to dry and all. I'd say it was worth it, though, considering the end product!
