What I am looking to do is turn on my Carver amp via the trigger sent out from the Marantz 5005 to the Belkin PF60. Is this possible? If so, what type of cable is needed? I've looked at the manuals multiple times and it's just not sinking in. Thanks for your time

Not to sound like a dink but since your Marantz has a 12 volt trigger (it does doesn't it?) why not just hook that up from your receiver to your amp? With my receiver there is a setting which will ask you yes/no on using the trigger. Then everytime you turn your receiver on the amp will turn on as well. Same with power off.

Are you saying this can be done through the pre-outs? That is the only connection from the amp (Carver TFM-45) to the receiver.

Oh yes, I gotcha now. An older Carver amp, oops, sorry for my mistake, I'm the dink!
I'm not that familiar with the BelkinPF60, I have the APC H15. There are some here who do own them so hopefully someone will chime in for you on this!Remember, when you're running from something, you're running to something...-me -
Nope, no dinks here... I think the Belkin outlet the receiver is plugged into needs to be un-swithched. When you turn the receiver on w/the remote, the receiver would trigger the Belkin to turn on and feed the Carver power on a time delayed switch. I'm not certain the Belkin, or the Marantz is designed to do this.

Run the trigger from your Marantz to the trigger in on the Belkin using a monaural headphone cable. Plug the Marantz into the AVR plug of Bank 5. Plug the Carver into the amp plug for bank 6. Set the bank 6 switch to SWITCHED and DELAYED. Set the delay switch to 5 seconds. Press the remote button on the front of the unit so that is set to on. Voila! When you turn the Marantz on, the Belkin will kick the amp on.
If you get a thump when the Carver powers on, try adjusting the delay switch on the back to 10 or 15 seconds.Equipment list:

I have a new PF60....and I am thinking about the same thing. Only problem is.. I think both my Carver's have an internal "slow start" circuit, which means if you put a delay on the bank, then the receiver will almost certainly be cycled up and ready to rock by the time the amps kick in...producing the "thump". I'm wondering if it might not be best to put the amps on instant on switch and then....maybe...they might kick in around the same time."Making life enjoyable through expensive electronics." BillD
