RTi6 vs. Monitor 40
Need some advice. I just picked up a pair of LSi9's and Lsi F/X recently now I need to know what to do with my older speakers. In my quest to gradually move up to my current speaker I initially purchased Monitor 30's and 40's. After a few years stepped up to 4 RTi6's with CSi5. I can't keep both sets or my better half will completely freak out. I'm thinking of setting up a bedroom theatre and can't decide which set to keep.
What would you do in this situation? I know that some if not all will say hook them up and see for myself however they are already boxed up and ready to go to sale.
Thanks for the advice.

Rti's, no contest. Everything is better (punch, extension, detail, etc.), and that will make an awesome bedroom HT.Living Room 2.2: Usher BE-718 "tiny dancers"; Dual DIY Dayton audio RSS210HF-4 Subs with Dayton SPA-250 amps; Arcam SA30; Musical Fidelity A308; Sony UBP-x1000es

Well, you have them, try them both in the bedroom and see what sounds better. I would concur with rooftop59 and say keep the rtis, but again, you have them, so try them, and then you will know.Living Room 7.1 HT Rig:

Probably the Rtis but personally. I have Rti-4s and Rti-A3s (the Rti-6 next generation). I prefer the Rti-4s for two channel but the 3s get the nod for Home Theater. There is something about the 6s and 3s that bothers me?
I moved the 3s to my basement HT and they got themselves trounced by a set of almost 20 year old Boston A. A100s! The tweeter in the Bostons put the A3s to shame! Still can't figure this out!
It also didn't help that the Bostons were 10" two way floor-standers because they put out some nice bass to about 40hz which the Polks can't match, either. But then again the B.A.s sound even better than the Rti-A5 towers--better bass, smoother high end--more musical. Not a fan of the RTi tweeter for music.
The irony, a pair of used $60 A100s outperform most of the Rti-A line except for, maybe the TOTL A9s. Butt that's just my opinion! Polk needs to tone down that "tweeter" and stop trying to produce spectacularly "tight" bass that loses its oomph because it is "unnaturally tight"!
Get those young ears out of the Anechoic chamber and get some "seasoned" ears that like a nice "warm" musical sound in there. These young guys are ruining the design by boosting the high end too much!
Go back and listen to some Monitor 7As peerless and remember that sound.
On a positive note, LSi tweeters sound pretty nice. But, of course, the young guys think there's NOT enough detail there, too laid back and so on. See WHAT I mean? OK, get your B&Ws out and entertain the Bats!
