Center placement

Question for you all: Is there an appreciable difference in sound quality in mounting the center above the tv at a slight downward angle, rather than having it beneath the tv? It's becoming impractical for me to have my center beneath my tv, so I wanted to try mounting it above, but I didn't want to lose quality of sound..

Depending on the setup, either way could be the best way.
Give it a whirl and let your ears be the judge.
See if you can get it up there on a stand or something before actually mounting it.
Recently I've really enjoyed using dual centers: one above the TV and one below the TV. It makes for a much more expansive center soundstage that is harder to localize... more similar to how it sounds in a movie theater. Plus each speaker is doing less work, so you can get improvements in bass response and less boxiness.2-Channel: PC > Schiit Eitr > Audio Research DAC-8 > Audio Research LS-26 > Pass Labs X-250.5 > Magnepan 3.7's

I would assume that whichever way puts the center closer to ear level will sound best, so it depends on the placement of your TV.

+2
I've had my CS2 above, below and way below the TV. So long as the center is aimed at the listening area, and you have some kind of Audyssey set up, you shouldn't really be able to tell if it's high or low.Source: BRP Panasonic UB9000, CDP Emotiva ERC3 - Display: LG OLED EVO 83 C3 - Pre/Pro: Marantz 8802A - Amplification: Emotiva XPA-DR3, XPA-2 x 2, XPA-6, Speakers, Mains/2ch-Focal Kanta No2's, C-LSiM706, S-702F/X, RS-RTiA9's, WS-RTiA9's, FH-RTiA3's, Subs - Epik Empire x 2
