Needed advice/opinion for parents surround sound

Hello All, I had asked for advice a bit back about building my parents surround sound... well, I'm stuck at a point where I need to make a decision. I'm giving them my old receiver (Harman Kardon AVR247), and building them a 7.1. I have a set of Rti70s, a set of Monitor 70s, and a Csi1 center channel. I've seen a set of Rti38's, Rti70's, and a Csi40. I like the Monitor 70's a lot! and the csi1 would be suffice for a center I think, but should I flip the Monitors and csi1 and nab up the extra Rti70's, Rti38's, and Csi40? I hear the 40 is a LOT better center, and obviously timbre matches the Rti70's. Room is not an issue in my parents livingroom, and mom doesn't mind big speakers... though, I figured she may like the *solid wood* of the Rti series (looks nice) to the black veneer & titanium of the Monitor 70s. So what does everybody think? Would the Monitor 70's make better fronts, or should I stick with the Rti-all-around route? I'm leaning towards Rti everything... thoughts? opinions? and are there any Polk subs with solid wood like the Rti's? or just veneer? Some quick answers (w/ detail, or explanation) would help as I'm needing to jump on these fast. I am wanting to obviously go 7.1 and sound quality does mean a lil something to them. Thanks!

The Rti series are better speakers, IMHO. All else being equal, I would use them. But, if you already have the Monitor 70s, and like them, just use them and be happy.

Well my question would be, would the 3-way Monitor 70s, being top of the monitor line, be better than the 2-way Rti70's for fronts. Rather than just "being happy with what I have" I would like to make something that not only looks nice, but sounds nice for my parents. They've done so much for me, I figured it would make a wonderful gift for them. They don't go cheap or settle when it comes to me :) I know the Csi40 is a MUCH better center, but are the Rti70's going to make a better soundstage than the Rti70s? I've heard the Rti70's are a little dull, and I've heard good things about the monitor 70s... bleh...

Rti70's are better than Monitor 70's. There isn't anything wrong with the 70's but the RTi's are just a much better set of speakers.

One last question. Is there a product page for the Csi1 Center channel? I need to find a spec page/ product page for it. It's almost like Polk has a few specific speakers they don't want to bother making pages for under vintage. But yeah, anyone have a page for the Csi1?
