My son was out last night using the snow blower to move as much snow as possible away from the back of the house to the side of the driveway. I just hate spring runoffs. There is a 6 foot fence that separates our driveway from the neighbors. Never had an issue with any of them. Actually the house 2 doors from us caught on fire 3 years ago and the neighbor in question was evacuated from their home that evening. We took them in, gave them our bed to sleep in and made them a huge breakfast the next morning. They left without a thank you or an offer to clean up. My son has actually shoveled part of their front sidewalk from time to time. Never had one harsh word between us in 8 years.

Anyway, the police showed up last night as there was a complaint that we were blowing snow in their driveway. I did have a look and if there are 5 shovels of snow on the already existing 2 feet of snow that would be an over estimate. You can really tell the difference between snow that has fallen naturally from the sky and snow that has been discharged from a blower.

I don't get it. I will admit that our son did put some snow on their property but not intentionally. Why just out of the blue would you phone the police on someone you have a good relationship with for many years. She even works for the same company that I do, although we never interact at work as we are in totally separate departments.

I have talked to my son and asked him to take a shovel and go and remove the snow. Hope we do not get charged with trespassing.

janmike, they must not be Polkies....proboably have their whole house decked out with Bose!

Don't let the actions of self-centered others alter your route on the high road. We have some similar acting neighbors and I'll let you know if the welcome day comes that a "For Sale" sign appears in their front yard, just in case you're considering relocating your family.

Great advice. Don't sink to their level.

I guess catapulting a load of dog poo onto their roof would be the opposite. But much more satisfying.

Sorry for this rant, it's somewhat related...

Dig poo is my pet-peeve. My neighbor's front lawn is one big dog toilet. We have a 15 foot wide wooded area between our properties which is mainly my property. What my neighbor doesn't leave in their lawn for shear laziness, they dump in the wooded area, and on what is mine property. The smell can at times be bad enough that I can't even open up my front windows. Not enemies with my neighbor but I don't really speak to them because I never really see them. Still, they could be more responsible.

Then, there is a small wooded area across the street that the neighborhood kids love to play in. I see lazy people walking their dogs and not picking up the poo left there. The property belongs to other neighbors that simply have too big of a back yard. I don't let my kids play there because I know the mess that exists there.

I don't hate dogs, just lazy dog owners.

Janmike, go easy on them, They're Canadians.

Maximillian, I know what you're dealing with. When our neighbors brought home a puppy, I knew there were going to be dog piles everywhere. They didn't want to clean it up either. The good thing is they were not allowed a dog and had to move and I don't have to check my shoes every time I get in the car or go home.

It's easy to be a good neighbor.

My neighbor has been growing vegetables every spring/summer on a sliver of land (6' x 60' = 360') that belongs to me for about 12 years! He thinks because the back of my property is a garage wall with a 25' fence next to it that this "represents" the property line!

It DOES NOT! I haven't said much over the last decade or so. But we're closing in on 20 years in a while and if I don't do something I lose the rights to what I actually "own". At one point my neighbor redid the front of his fence so as to close me off from being able to actually access the "back" of my garage! I've been, I think, unreasonably patient up to now. This spring or next I'll be putting up a row of bushes on what "he" considers his property--actually in "his" illegal garden. That should be a wake up call!

This guy also has had the top of his truck stored in front of one of my basement windows through most of this winter? Why?

Some people are just living on another planet! While most of us are on "earth"!
