Now if only Tommy Bolin were still alive to ride with them. The two albums Bolin did with JG were stellar (Miami and Bang). Still this is very cool news.

I've seen Joe recently with The Eagles and he can still "kick ****" as a performer. I will look forward to his solo release and the James Gang too if it happens.

    +1
The Billy Cobham album "Spectrum" has Bolin playing lead along with a great cast of musicians. Worth picking up if you haven't already (get the import version. Sounds great on SDA's)

I have that and every other studio release Bolin did on vinyl. Zephyr, Deep Purple, Alphonse Mouzon, solos. I also have Bolin playing with Deep Purple on DP's very rare Last Concert in Japan on vinyl. If he were still alive I'd be considered a stalker.

    This...
•Funk #48 and Funk #49 started off as soundcheck riffs. The numbers just "came out of the air" as producer Bill Sczymzyk puts it.

No that is only part of the story. The number 47, and 49 where the number of takes it took to complete the tracks. In the case of Funk 49 they worked over 30 straight hours to put it togather, the band was more then a little wired at the end so they trashed the studio. Joe Walsh told me this in one of our QSO's. He is a fellow hamradio operator ( WB6ACU) and we get togather every once and awhile on 75 meter phone.
