Hi guys. I need some tech help here. I am trying to figure out why the above head unit is going into amp protect mode? There are no external amps hooked up the HU, so that crosses that one out. I did manage to look at all the wire connections, and whoever did this used shrink rap around the exposed wires, and they all seem to be hooked up correctly. They also had an amp hooked up at one point, cause the wires are still ran, and were connected in the back of the HU. So, I unplugged these to cross that off as well. I did not do a detailed analysis of the wiring as of yet, but that is my next step. I was wondering if I might be able to pick someones brain to see if anyone has any other suggestions that I can use, and look at.

I'm not a techie by any stretch of immagination, but if it goes into protect mode with the rca's disconnected, maybe the amp inside the hu is the problem?

I re read what I put, and left out something. When I had the HU pulled out, I completely disconnected the HU. When I plugged it back in the radio worked like it should. I let it play for 10 min each both with the ACC on the car turned on, and also with the engine running, and had no issues. Once I left the guy that I am doing this for called me like two hours later, and told me it had gone back into amp protect. I do agree with arun that it very well might the internal amp on the HU. So, this open up the question of could it be the fuse that is on the harness? The HU does not have the fuse on it below the pin hook up area (if that makes sense). I will try to see if I can post of pic of the harness so you can see. I think there are two of them on the acutal harness.

If it is the amp on the HU. Does anyone think it could be salvaged, and or fixed? And what could cause the HU amp to do this anyway?
