A couple days ago I decided to replace the Marinco on my DIY Chris Ven Haus Flavor 4 PC with the Furutech in the title. Not inherently dissatisfied with the Marinco, but just had the itch to try something different. . .

The Furutech is almost 3 times the cost of the Marinco, but at only $55 it still didn't seem too bad. The quality of materials is reputed to be much better as is the workmanship.

Sat down for my first listen on Thursday night. First up Chicago's first album (still my favorite). Not much change from before: system still with great clarity, though I wondered if I had lost a little midrange. Hard to tell. Thought the horns, especially the trombones sounded a little sweeter. Still not sure if I was imagining it.

Last night had a longer session. First up Dylan's Planet Waves. Seemed to have a bigger sound overall, maybe slightly better imaging. His voice sounded a bit more life like, a kuttke richer more like he was in the room. OK, so maybe this new plug is doing something.

Next up Talking Head greatest hits. Definitely more slam to all the instruments, especially percussion. Instruments seem to have better tone, better decay, especially the synthesizers and bass.

Supposedly it takes a few hours (50? 100?) for these to burn in and reach their potential, but I'm already liking what I'm hearing. This Furutech is a keeper, and it looks like I'll be replacing some of my other plugs as well!
